I've assembled all of the equipment for a wheel and tire change - spare set of wheels and tires, jack pucks, jack, jackstands, lug nut tools, and even a nice, thick knee pad. There's a special spot to insert the puck and jack up the vehicle but no provision for a jackstand. wtf?

Put jack under lower control arm with rubber puck to protect aluminum, use jack puck in factory jacking point to place jack stand.

Honestly when I did my first rotation I just pulled the spare out and did a 5 wheel rotation, only ever lifting one tire at a time. A jackstand for safety can still go under the vehicle in the event of a jack failure, but in theory it wouldn't load a not-jack-point area unless you actually had a problem.

I suppose the only actual alternatives for people who didn't have a spare or sliders would be to take some of the underbody panels off so you could put a jack stand against the frame.

That is how quite a few Rivian field service techs do the job.....it's pretty straight forward.

Lucky to have a DIY garage in my area where I can pay by the hour to use their professional lift. Easy job with all 4 wheels lifted at once. (Need 4 pucks to do this.)

This is not unique to EVs. Many, if not most, modern vehicles give little indication of jack points for use with jack stands. The best vehicles have marked center front and center rear spots for a floor jack enabling use of the side jack points for stands.

Significantly less likely to need to get under the vehicle for servicing. If you're concerned, get a jack that can get locked into position once raised.

This is hands down the best way to rotate tires—on a standard commercial lift. A few Rivians have slipped off flat-plate lifts when using metal pucks without a rubber base. All it takes is a little fluid on the lift, and suddenly, it’s game over.

That’s exactly why I went with our super sticky rubber caps—because a secure lift shouldn’t be a gamble.

It's pretty straight forward.. jack it up using the pucks and locate the jack stands under the control arms, or... jack it up by locating the jack under the control arms then place the pucks/jack stands under the frame jack holes.

The main advantage of jacking it up by locating the floor jack under the control arm is that you only need to jack it up one or two inches as the suspension is already compressed.
