I purchased a R1T used (12xxx VIN) a couple weeks ago. My family and I set off for weekend camping trip to Joshua Tree and wanted to check out the new Outpost/RAN chargers set up there last month. I have no problems charging at home on level 2.
Pulled up to the RAN and plugged in to a charging station at around 48% SOC only to get an error code and red light asking me unplug and tried again.
No biggie, I tried it again and it didn't work. Went to another stall and it also didn't work. Tried multiple stalls and each time it would say "Connecting..." and then give me an error code.
Other Rivians were able to pull in and charge almost immediately and I started to panic that it was an issue with my truck. Called the roadside assistance hotline and tried various combinations of soft reboot, hard reboot, and sleep cycle without success. I even tried removing and adding my payment method to my primary account holder. The app would not allow me to trigger manually charging at the station nor tap to pay at the station - likely because charging at this location was free. I gave up after an hour and a half of working with roadside assistance.
Fortunately I purchased the CCS to NACS adapter from the gear shop and received it before our trip. I drove to the Tesla Supercharger about 10 miles backwards to Yucca Valley. I plugged in one of the Supercharger stations with the adapter and was able to DCFC to 100+ kWh pretty easily. I even tested it at a local EVGo using CCS and it worked as well. So clearly, my truck can DC fast charge just embarrassingly not at a RAN.
I tried it again at the same RAN the next day without any success either. Called the charging hotline and they were able to see my vehicle attempts at multiple stations (including non-Rivians since this location is open to all EVs), but for some reason it wasn't able to authorize the transaction even after the tech manually reset the station.
Has anyone else had this issue and able to resolve without a service center visit? We are two months out on our appointment, but need access to various RANs for a couple upcoming ski trips.
