I got my new 2015 R1T dual motor max pack about a month ago and love it.
I was thrilled to finally get an Emporia level 2 charger installed at home earlier this week. All has been great averaging charging ton70% and getting 8-9 kWh (50 amp breaker set to 40amp).
Heading out on a road trip today so last night set charging to 100% and plugged in. First few hours I was getting between 8-9kwH, which is what I have been seeing
Upon waking I noticed charging was significantly lower for 2nd half of the night.
Anyone seeing this behavior? Any thoughts on what I need to do?
I’ve included the charging history from last night as well as a previous night for comparison.

Well this was a lot to look at but doesn’t the charging rate go way down when you get to a certain level

Only time my Emporia has derated was when it goes over 100 degrees in the garage.

Emporia is pretty responsive for support, have you reached out to them?

Are you using schedules on the charger and/or vehicle that could be causing a conflict.

The graph for Emporia shows energy drawn by the hour in that view not actual rate, have you tried looking at other levels like hour or minute to see if it shows cycling on and off? Have you looked at the Rivian charge history to see if it is showing short sessions.

Thanks for the response, this is my first electric vehicle and all is quite new to me. I am charging outside and weather is in mid-20’s so heat should not be a big issue.
.
Rivian app does now show short sessions.

Will reach out to Emporia

thanks again

If you added the Emporia EV charger to the app you should be able to see the charger's info directly like the attached pic.
Maybe it will says an error message there or you can always check the max rate being applied for the ongoing charging. If it shows a lower max rate that might be set by your Rivian as a scheduled rate. Check your Rivian's screen at that moment what does the car says :)

As mentioned above most probably you have a mismatch between the vehicle asking for a max rate and the EV charger offering as own max rate.

It should remain constant for L2 chargers - on both of our Gen1 Large packs we get ~11kw right up to 100% - there seem to be a few reports emerging that suggest this has changed for gen2 where at ~80% charging they reduce the rates to 4-6kw for the remaining 20% - which would be a major regression if so.

I am traveling right now and can’t check but this was the first time using charge AND charging above 70%, so perhaps the charge from 80 to 100% is being throttled which would not be good.

I don't think I've seen this behavior, but I charge indoors and live in a relatively warm climate. The battery may have throttled due to low pack temperature if the ambient temperature was in the 20s or below.
