I can't wait to line up my R1T at a stoplight with a cybertruck in 2025.

The real people who are screwed are the ones still waiting for the new roadster and have given Elon a 50K dollar loan to be on the list with no release date in site.
But at least they get to brag they are on the waiting list.

Well, I’ve been waiting since 2018 on my R1T and only 2019 on my Cybertruck. At this rate I’m starting to doubt which I get first. Tesla is legal to sell & service in NC, Rivian is not.

It's so much worse than that: the signature or first edition version required putting down a full $250,000.

There can't be too many people who can just set aside a quarter of a million dollars for a vague promise.

I guess if I had billions of dollars where I could literally light 250k on fire on a whim I might. I don't, not at all. I would agree that the list of people willing to do that is probably pretty short. Rivian gets a lot of hate here for how they handle preorders but they aren't even remotely in the same league as give me 250K and maybe someday sometime I'll build you a car but we'll see.

I think plenty of us are here because we gave up on Tesla over promising a long time ago and saw a real product being built and sold by Rivian. I’d venture to guess close to half of us have owned/own a Tesla and are ready to move on.

Assuming you put that $250,000 you loaned Tesla in Tesla stock instead your investment would be nearly 4 million now (and had you bailed last fall almost 5.1 million). I bet you could buy a flipper’s first edition for a fraction of that next year if they actually come out then.

I have zero doubt your R1T will arrive first.
