Looking good! How is the tint on the sunroof? Currently the factory is doing ok though I'm sure that'll change this summer, I've no experience w/tinting on a poly based surface.Took delivery late Feb (after 3.5 years) and had a whole hour with my El Cap / Ocean Coast R1T before dropping it off for paint correction / full PPF / ceramic coating (exterior and interior) / window tint (including windshield and sunroof). No real photos since finally getting “rivi” home … but I did take these during my brief time on delivery day.
Couldn't imagine what it must be without. My Raptor has full pano roof, and I keep the sun shade (fully opaque) closed most of the time because the sun is too intense with only the tinted glass. So far, with added tint, the R1T's roof has been fine. (I live in Central Oregon, which is high desert and gets over 300 days of sunshine a year)Looking good! How is the tint on the sunroof? So far I haven't had an issue w/it. Now of course we've only hit the low 80s here in GA; I'll most likely be thinking differently when its 98 w/110% humidity at 11am. I've not even noticed the poly roof getting hot to the touch. I still wish it had a retractable shade like all other luxury vehicles and I'm sure the R2 will have, at minimum, a rear sliding window. (Prob a sliding sunroof too!)Couldn't imagine what it must be without. Had a considerable debate with my PPF shop about the pano roof tint. Owner said that he has seen the ceramic tints get so hot that it cracks the pano roofs (not on Rivians), but other cars over the years he has done installs on and he would not warranty it. I asked him why and he said the ceramic is the best performing tint, but he showed me on my existing Trackhawk how the windows were very hot to the touch and he said they essentially absorbs the heat into the window. I then debated a sun-shade option which I have seen in the forums, he then recommended a metallic tint option that actually reflects the sun and heat. I was a little dubious about this as I have never had metallic tint before on any of my vehicles, but he has always been spot on about his assessments of tints/PPFs and the pro/cons of each option. Couldn't be happier with his recommendation because we have hit several high 90's days here with direct sunlight on my R1S while it was parked at work and no issues. In fact, when I reach up and touch the inside of the pano-roof it is not "hot" to the touch like my ceramic tint on the side windows. If you are debating tinting the pano...talk to your tint/ppf place about metallic as an option because I couldn't be happier with the heat rejection in the cabin and even to the touch because my daughter likes to reach up and touch the pano glass all the time.Looking good! FWIW, the tint used on my pano was metallic as well (if that’s useful to others following this thread).Had a considerable debate with my PPF shop about the pano roof tint.
