A limited edition launched several months ago now in the shop - demonstrates demand issues unfortunately. A special edition standard model would work better.
Appetite for $100k vehicles will just get more difficult for Rivian. I'll stick with my Gen 1 until prices come down and tech gets better to justify a new purchase but will probably lease.

There’s a price at which I’d switch to one of these haha. Going to wait a bit
Yeah, either of those two in the shop would essentially double my current lease. I’ll pass.

Demonstrates that the spice must flow.

I wish the color was a bit more saturated though.

I have a friend that ordered one of these about a week ago. He wouldn’t tell me how much but he said the discounts given over the phone were too good to pass up. Maybe some of you wanting one should call and see what they can get. I do know he negotiated with them for about 3 weeks. Sounds like the “wait let me talk to my manager" model is coming to Rivian.

Yep, I’m into my Quad Launch for $65K and plan to run it into the ground—unless there’s a legit jump in battery tech, efficiency, and build quality.

Upmarket trims in a downmarket economy.

Makes no sense.

How about a $69K R1S before tax credit with textile seats, even worse sound system (not sure that's possible), a solid roof and coil springs.

Coil springs and a solid metal roof alone would price a dual-motor R1 around $69K. Swapping to fabric seats instead of the current vegan (plastic) leather? Doubt you’d see much, if any, real savings.

Take out four speakers, do whatever it takes to spike demand and get Normal running at 100% capacity for generating cash flow and improving fixed cost absorption. Heck, bolt closed the frunk and remove all the plastic trim bits if needed.

Point is Rivian needs to get prices lower, not launch a horribly inefficienct Dune model (329 miles of EPA range from a Max pack?) and Quad both starting above $100K before taxes isn't going to do much of anything. It's window dressing for brand image, not building a business.
