Hey Folks,

Despite a stellar first 5 days with our R1T, today my wife went to close the passenger door and it made a awful cracking sound. It seems the door panel front is getting ever so slightly caught on the panel on front of truck and began to chip the paint due to the friction. I put in a service request, but is there anything that can be functionally done about this without taking off the door? I’m hoping there’s a known fix, but also just kind of deflating after this big a purchase.
Thanks!

Happened to me when I went to Vegas. The SC will fix it , it’s a known issues. Not sure what you can do, since they will realign it and then touch up the paint.

My 2022 recently started doing the same thing.

It sat in the sun and then I tried opening the passenger side rear door when I heard a pop, and then when I went to look I saw the scratch.

The irksome part of it is I reported a windnoise issue with the passenger side MONTHS AGO, and they scheduled service way out till Dec.

If they had serviced it sooner this entire issue wouldn't have happened.

The windnoise is likely due to a door alignment issue.

This one has been happening since Job 1 or whatever Rivian calls it. Why that factory doesn't figure stuff out like this and correct before it leaves plant is baffling.

I was told when the car goes from mild weather to extreme heat, the door expands and hits the front panel quarter and an adjustment will fix it. They did that, and I never had the issue again.

I had this on mine and they fixed it at the service center. It had to be done at the service center because the door is too heavy for a mobile tech to do it in your garage. They fixed the paint chip too and it looks like it never happened. I know it sounds bad and you're seeing the paint damage, but they can fix it fully.

Dang, service center is 4 hours away. Hopefully they can do it when I’m down there in a few weeks for work (optimistic I know..)

I had this, although mine was only a minor run.

They fixed it with mobile service in about 10 minutes.

They fixed the rubbing on my passenger front door, but now it doesn’t line up like it used to and it looks like crap. Good luck
