Does rivian have texting integration?

Having apple carplay as an option is better than not having it.

Only not necessary in a tesla because they have text integration, but you can also buy a carplay device that works with tesla, since tesla allows you to have the web browser open while driving.

With more and more EVs getting android automotive, rivian is not going to be ahead for long. They are way behind the EVs in china
If text integration is your only metric for saying it's better, then you're incredibly myopic. CP works like garbage and the nanny state interface is crap. Please give me a keyboard so my passenger can enter in a destination while driving. I don't need daddy Apple telling me when it's safe to use the keyboard.

You can buy a Carplay device for Rivian too. Jesus ?
the tesla device has native integration with the main screen

It's not a stick on device.

it works through the web browser which rivian does not even have

It requires zero installation. It is just a device that the phone connects to and is tricked into thinking it is a car. Then the car connects to it as if it is a wifi hotspot

And there is a integrated aftermarket solution in the works. I swear, some people just enjoy complaining... and making glue. Oh, look, not even a Rivian owner.

There's nothing elegant about always using the browser in a Tesla.

The fact that you have to launch your browser and hit a bookmark every time you want to use it is a dealbreaker.. that's not integration.

and that's more elegant that taking over your entire screen with an aftermarket device?

And no, you do not need a bookmark or a favorite.

The browser default launches to the previous page you had it on and the browser is also saved to the bar at the bottom as it is a recently launched app."

When you bring your phone in, it auto connects and the integration of carplay is more/less how it would be on other vehicles

Not surprised one bit. It would take a lot more than the $5.8B to acquire Rivian and VW—in the midst of plant closures and laying off thousands—is in no position to spend what it would take. The JV is the lower cost option to get them what they need.
I agree that the joint venture is the better option for VW, but VW can absolutely buy out Rivian if they chose to. They have $88Billion in cash on hand.

CarPlay is NOT better. Sorry, try again.
Don, You don't have to take every CP/AA reference as click-bait to fight , do you? It is obvious how you feel. Let others just live a little before needing to squash them, eh?

We are all allowed to express our opinions on here, aren't we? I'll make you a deal, people can stop mentioning how they wish they had CP and I'll stop saying how much I don't like it.

the elegance is simply that it requires no installation. The tesla implementation is elegant enough

Nope, I didn't advocate for any solution yet :) Neither is good.

It’s a hack. They both are.
I’d rather wait for Rivian to perfect text integration and implement it. For example, I think the SXM integration is excellent. Works exactly how I’d want it to.
I personally don’t care for Waze or WhatsApp.
