I am looking at brackets to install my ditch lights and see two types available for the Rivian. One is the more traditional type attached to the hood hinge, and the other to the body. I have links to both types below. Is one better than the other? I am inclined to use the kind that attaches to the body for simplicity of installation and not messing with the hood hinge and knocking the hood out of alignment. Is there any major disadvantage of the body mount? Any insight would be helpful.

I saw some feedback on another thread that the body mounted (M&R) were less prone to vibration so I went with those. I don't have anything to compare to so I don't know if they are truly more stable but they are rock solid. Easy install too.

I have these:

And bought these lights with the harness kit:

I used this wireless switch connected to the auxiliary 300A connector on the terminal box over the battery:

I used dual conductor wire and wire loom covers that I had on hand. I like this style of protective cover best:

The result is excellent both for the lighting quality and the overall look. There's no vibration on even the roughest washboard. I absolutely would NOT ever put brackets on this hood. It's flimsy and thin. Also, ditch lights by name and definition should be pointed outward/down and the hood mount ones seem like they may not work at all that way.

Someone asked me to get measurements of the brackets because he wanted to use much larger lights. Here is a video intended to answer his question mostly, but also gives you an idea of the look and fit.

If you’re looking to use them for fog light purposes general street or highway driving get the brackets at mount to the front honeycomb.

I tried using ditch light brackets for forward facing lights and it put way too much light on the hood. If you do use them as intended for angled ditch lights, then their ideal.

I know it’s not what you’re asking, but I wanted to bring another point of view.
