I was notified by Rivian to bring my R1T in for service. No reason given for service. Called service and was informed they needed to check the torque and re-torque (if necessary) some bolts to the front knuckles. Brought it in to El Segundo SC they did what they needed to do but no info on whether they were re-torqued or found to be within torque specs. They should keep us informed. Also, right after service I ran out of windshield washer fluid. I think that is the only fluid that needs to be checked and no mention of it being low or why didn’t they just top off the fluids. So I called Service again and asked if the window fluid should have been checked and topped off. Was informed it was only done on regular service intervals. That should be done every time your vehicle is in for service. So the service guy said I could schedule an appointment with the mobile service, I did. But now found out it will cost me $40 and I’m supposed to wait at my house for the service guy to show up between 8AM -4 PM. Going to call and cancel. Who do they think they are, The Cable Guy???

I’m genuinely unsure if this is a joke or not? They will have checked the torque using a torque wrench, so by checking they also will have ensured it was correct - which is what matters. As for the wiper fluid - erm ok.

Are you incapable of filling your washer fluid? Let me make sure I’m clear on this story. Rivian proactively contacted you to ensure your vehicle was safe. They then fixed your vehicle with a prompt service at no charge to you.

Then you came here to complain about not getting free stuff. Wow, not a great look.

Had to reread your post. So you scheduled a mobile service call to fill your washer fluid? Was the rep chuckling the whole time? Even if you don’t know how to fill your washer fluid, a visit to any gas station, auto parts store, repair shop would have served the same purpose. To monopolize the valuable time of mobile service with such a frivolous request is just obnoxious. I’m surprised they went along with it, however it goes to show the lengths Rivian will go to to have a satisfied customer.

My Teslas whenever in for service did not get windshield washer fluid topped off. I don't recall ICE stealerships ever doing it, either.
Perhaps go to the local store, shell out a couple bucks for washer fluid and call it a day.

I use my own mix and ask that they don't top it off for any of my vehicles when being serviced.

My Teslas were topped off when they went into service, though it was actually kind of annoying because it just watered down the Listerine.

The point being that I could not give a you-know-what at all if I tried because my vehicle did not have this fluid topped off.
Listerine? Seriously? WTH!!!?
$7 per liter the cheapest price of that stuff around here vs. $2 for 3.78 liters of the good ole blue windshield washer fluid.

No offense, but as the saying goes, the fool and his money are soon parted, clearly.

I have a feeling you won’t get any sympathy for the low windshield fluid. It’s cheap. Just fill it up yourself.

As for the torque specs on the bolts you can google to find the service campaign and it lists all the instructions and specs. Should they have provided this to you? Yes if you asked for it. I’ve found Rivian service to not tell you anything technical. Maybe it’s the clientele who just wants their vehicles fixed and doesn’t care about the details. I’ve found that Rivian never gives me the paperwork (and it’s not in the invoice/app) with any details. I’ve gotten three alignments. Each time the vehicle is returned still pulling. Like they didn’t even do it. One time I demanded the alignment printout and they gave me one but had no identifying info so couldn’t even tell if it was for my vehicle.

Yeah, who doesn’t change their own washer fluid? It costs like $4 and you just pour it in. It’s probably the easiest and cheapest part of vehicle maintenance!
