Hello! So I just received this email this Friday afternoon. I thought it was just a recap of the information we learned yesterday until I got down a few paragraphs about Configuring and how this will work.

"A dedicated Rivian Guide will be assigned to every preorder holder. Guides will begin reaching out to Adventure and Explore Package preorder holders near Thanksgiving based on the above three factors, however, due to the large number of preorders, many of you won’t be in this initial cohort of outreach."

Now that I've re-read this a few times this makes sense. LE first...I'm holding out for a Max Pack R1T which will be next year, so Thanksgiving makes sense.

Rivian R1T R1S Did I read this right? Pre-orders to begin near Thanksgiving? 9139527e-6895-435f-8e0d-ef2434ef1584

We appreciate having your support and commitment as we continue this journey together.

In preparation for deliveries, we’ve updated our website with new details on owning a Rivian — from ordering online and taking delivery at home, to a map of the locations for our network of fast chargers, the Rivian Adventure Network.

At the plant, we are working through validation and bringing up our production lines. We are focused on quality and consistency as we begin ramping up our volume week-by-week through spring and summer. Many of you have spotted our camouflaged development vehicles being tested across the US. With hundreds of vehicles in this test fleet across several build phases, these development vehicles help us ensure that you are extremely happy with what we ultimately deliver to you. Our confidence in your satisfaction is demonstrated in our 7-day, 1,000-mile return policy.

Delivery timing will be based on your original preorder date, plus two additional factors:

Where you take delivery

To provide the best ownership experience, our delivery schedule is synced with the growing coverage of our Rivian Service Centers, Mobile Service fleet and available charging infrastructure. Now is a good time to update your address in your Rivian Account.

What you configured

We will initially be building similarly configured vehicles grouped by paint color, interior package and option choices. Grouping vehicles this way helps us accelerate our ramp up and deliver as many vehicles to customers as possible.

A dedicated Rivian Guide will be assigned to every preorder holder. Guides will begin reaching out to Adventure and Explore Package preorder holders near Thanksgiving based on the above three factors, however, due to the large number of preorders, many of you won’t be in this initial cohort of outreach. We will be able to more accurately estimate delivery times for all Adventure and Explore Package preorder holders closer to that time. Once your Guide reaches out, they will be with you every step of the way — from purchase to delivery and beyond.

This summer, we will be kicking off a test drive program to get you behind the wheel and experiencing our vehicles firsthand. We will be giving preorder holders first access, helping you prepare for the adventures you’ll soon be taking. Our schedule and program details will be announced soon.

We look forward to meeting you soon and planning your delivery. Until then, you can find more on our online Support Center, including links to email, chat or call. Our team is available 8AM to 8PM CT. And please visit our updated website for more on our ownership experience.

Here’s to many adventures ahead.

Launch Edition version:

A dedicated Rivian Guide will be assigned to every preorder holder. Guides will begin reaching out in May based on the above three factors, however, due to the large number of preorders, many of you won’t be in this initial cohort of outreach. We expect every Launch Edition preorder holder to meet their Guide by Thanksgiving. From that point forward, your Guide will be with you every step of the way — from purchase to delivery and beyond.

I got the same email @BigE. I imagine you're in the same boat as me and have a pre-order for a non-Launch Edition R1T/R1S which is slated for initial deliveries in Jan 2022. Assuming that the timeline of Thanksgiving -> Jan seems reasonable to me at first glance.

Keep in mind they have to include R1S orders in LE as well which start in August, So November is probably the last of the R1S orders. R1T is a different boat as they start way earlier.

What are the guesses on which geographic areas deliver first. I would say high population centers in combination with proximity to Normal. Do we know where they are furthest along building out experience centers?

It's actually dependent on service availability and not their retail locations.

My guess is CA first.

Oh no, I think you are correct. This means Washington State is going to be among the last due to the dealer franchise laws. I might have to start shopping for the F 150 again!

Normal if they have enough orders... but around their Irvine headquarters seems most likely to me, too.

Question: Will Normal orders deliver out of Chicago, or in the beginning will Chicago orders take delivery in Normal?

This job posting gives me some hope that Denver isn't at the absolute bottom of the list.

Location: Denver, CO

None of the above.
Initial deliveries will be home deliveries from a rollback (part of the Field Specialist job description).

Someone that can look at cached web pages might be able to discern locations where Field Specialist and/or Service Center Technician positions have been filled (or at least posted, then removed)

Rivian has Technician and Parts/Service openings in Seattle/Bellevue as well as a Field Specialist position.

I was having a bit of difficulty understanding just what Rivian was trying to tell us with their statements “many of you won’t be in this initial cohort of outreach”. And “We expect every Launch Edition preorder holder to meet their Guide by Thanksgiving”.

Well, I think I understand it now.

I think they’re telling us that if you have a low pre-order number, ordered Launch Green with a Black interior and live close to Los Angeles, New York or Chicago you may receive your Rivian in June.

If not, you may want to invite your guide to Thanksgiving dinner….
I think Florida orders might be SOL.

I hope I’m wrong

Any guesses on what paint colors will be first for non-LE? My initial thought was that it would be the most popular (i.e. silver, white, el cap) but the more I thought about it I am wondering if the ones that are more expensive and might stand out more on the road (i.e. Rivian blue, compass yellow) might be first.

With Colorado having passed the legislation allowing them to direct sell and the recent agreement for chargers at every CO Sate Park, I would think we have a good chance of being near the top of the list. ?
