Another 2024 buyer with failed delivery team form 15400 submission... This time by Portland SC. I've been bugging Rivian since late January, even got confirmation last week they see my signed 15400 in their system, but delivery team never submitted and I never received a copy. I'm giving them 1 more business day before I go full blown Karen and light up Seattle SC. If no resolution there, I'll take off Thursday and drive down to Portland to go nuts on them. It's a huge failure by corporate, and the lack of both comms and support is really souring me on a third purchase for an R2.

Thanks for the clarification. I wish this was a bit more transparent to buyers. I remember asking for the discount upfront (as I heard Tesla started doing in 2024) and Rivian said they could not do that. Just seems like they would have given some good directions for this when I picked up the R1S.

Sorry to ask but I thought Rivians did not qualify for any tax credits besides the $7500 EV lease credit.

Looking on the following IRS site Rivian is not on the list for applicable new vehicle purchases:
https://fueleconomy.gov/feg/tax2023.shtml

Can someone point me to where you see that a Rivian qualifies for a federal tax credit because I don't want to miss out on something I will qualify for. Or did the tax credits you guys are talking about go away after 2024?

^ we, or at least I am discussing vehicle sold to me in 2024 and I am trying to claim the $3,750 Clean Vehicle Credit on my 2024 Federal tax return. If you purchased your Rivian in 2024, use the calculator in the link you provided to see if it's eligible for any fed credit.

MSRP under $80k qualifies, some vehicles are below this, some of us still had pre price hike pricing (🎗 Never Forget 🎗).

Thanks, I never realized how much the price jumped.

Same boat. Return rejected. Going to try to go through Rivian a third time. So far no responses at all.

Did you receive and e-sign the Clean Vehicle Sellers Report (CVSR) within 3 days of them sending it to you? I did not even know something was coming in email that was this important. If just one person from Rivian would have told me I would have been obsessed to make sure it was signed. What ended up happening was we started a birthday cruise the day they emailed it to me and were gone for 7 days. I did not sift through my yahoo email while on the cruise and totally missed the email. I put the question into the general Rivian system as to get my CVSR as I was doing my taxes myself online and was asked for it. That is the first time I even knew there was such a thing as a CVSR. As I did research I found out that there was an email a couple days after delivery and there was a 3 day restriction to sign. I have asked folks at the service centers in the past and was told to just file it with my taxes. At delivery no one emphasized this important document. I was pointed to my delivery team in Kansas. They did send me my CVSR unsigned by me and told me they did not report my VIN to the IRS because I did not sign the doc at the link of the email back in March 2024 when I picked up the vehicle. I tried to explain to them in an email exchange now with the Kansas delivery team that my understanding is that the IRS has opened the ECO portal for dealers to put in late reports. This is what I received yesterday:

Hi XXXX,

Thank you for your help in that explanation. We are anticipating advisement on this issue. Nothing quite yet.

I assume they are now asking corporate or something. Or just stalling me. I may just e-file without it and then keep fighting to get my VIN put into the system and then when I see it in my IRS account just amending my return. I will probably wait until the last minute and file on 15 Apri. Good luck but bottom line you will be sent back to your delivery team for any assistance from what I can tell so far.

Tell customer service you need the delivery team from whichever SC completed your sale to contact you and send you a copy of the form.

I learned customer service can't access that "side of the house" as far as purchase documents. If you log into the website, click the two lines at the top, and look under the vehicle you're filing for, it should be under Documents.

Similar situation to Betty and Riviot. I suspect email went straight into the junk file. In no way shape or form was it made clear that this crucial document was incoming. Rivian is a premium product so one expects premium levels of help and service to some degree. Yes they are new and operating across multiple regulatory regimes.

And made even worse because a regular car dealership registers your vehicle on the IRS portal the day you purchase your vehicle, you as the owner don't have to sign anything to have the dealer register your vehicle on the IRS portal. They use the Bill of Sal as the official proof of sale doc. Why does Rivian require the owner sign a separate doc other than the Bill of Sale? It seems like they created a problem where there was none...

I received contact from Rivian today:
________________
Hi - Noah with Rivian here, I just left you a voicemail in regards to the Clean Vehicle Seller Report. Please contact us back so we can confirm some details and proceed from there. Thank you.
————————————-
I had put question in on the Rivian website and called the customer service phone number. I was told my delivering location (Kansas) would call me back. They were able to send me my Clean Vehicle Sellers Report but said they had not turned it into the IRS as I did not sign within 3 days (they sent me an email and I missed it). I found out on the threads that IRS opened up the ECO website for dealers to put in the information after the 3 days.
I traded text with Noah and he called me back. He took more info over the phone and then said he has it in the Rivian system now and another Rivian member will put it into ECO and then I should see it come up on my IRS page (also learned how to get to my page in the threads).
I hope to see it in the next couple days as we are getting close to tax day. I attached a pic of what your IRS page looks like if the ECO is not updated by Rivian yet.

I had a text exchange with the delivery guys in the Portland OR service center and informed them that there IS some kind of process to retroactively add the CVSR stuff into the IRS site. They initially just tried to tell me too bad so dad. I politely and firmly pushed back. When I refilled my information wasn’t rejected this time around so maybe it actually worked??? The cynic in me tells me I’m going to get audited, but maybe it’s the beginning of fixing this silly and maddening situation….
