Delivery in South Lake Tahoe

My wife and are very excited to take delivery of our new R1S at South Lake Tahoe tomorrow. We let go of our Audi Q7 to jump into the Rivian EV world. The only issue so far, is our electric company (Liberty) doesn’t offer a rebate on the Rivian wall charger, we are in discussions to get this issue resolved.

Well, actually South Lake Tahoe is a town, not to be confused with the lake. I always found it weird when someone might say something like, “We are going to be staying in Lake Tahoe.” Really? Might want to wear a wet suit and a life vest. Oh, you mean you are staying at Lake Tahoe.

You’re going to love it. I live down the hill in the Carson Valley and spend a lot of time (winter and summer) in the mountains with my R1T. The R1’s love the mountains!

Now if we can only get more charging stations in Carson/Reno. Although Reno might be better now that Tesla chargers are open to Rivian.

congratulations! Many of the utility companies require either ChargePoint home flex or EnelX Juicebox chargers to participate in the TOU rebate programs. Some of them like First Energy (my utility) offer additional vehicles via smartcar integration but they don't currently support Rivian (even though Rivian is compatible with smartcar). The other caveat is that some of them require that you use them as your energy supplier and you can't participate in Community Solar (Virtual Net Metering). Make sure you read all the fine print.

We have two Tesla wall connectors that power share a 60 amp site allocation. I highly recommend the Tesla Universal Wall connector to anyone who is installing a new charger. They can power share if you add more later and they work on any EV since they have a built-in adapter.
