R1S Launch Edition
Well friends, it's finally here! My R1S was delivered Friday 9/30, less than three weeks after guide assignment. Things moved very quickly this past week, with the vehicle having arrived at the SC on Tuesday. The same day I got another text from the SC saying that it could be ready for delivery either Thursday or Friday. I picked Friday to give myself some time to tie up financing and insurance.

Delivery day:
Communications were all super prompt - got a text the day before, plus another text day of, plus another one when they left the SC, and another when they arrived (I was already outside watching them pull in at this point :D). The field specialist was friendly and professional, and got us through the hoops pretty quickly. He helped me get set up on the phone, adjusting settings etc., and then offered a drive-along but I declined and sent him on his way!

Positives:
+Love the color.

+Love the ride. You've heard this all before. It's seriously effortless acceleration. I haven't even done a proper launch yet (Seattle peeps, please tell me some good roads to try this on!) but I already know it's way more power than I could ever want.

+I was also pleasantly surprised with the confidence in dimensions I felt. Yes it's big, but it's boxiness left me feeling like I already had a really good handle of where its extremities are.

+Oh, I got a wristband! Apparently those are going out to LE holders now.

+The seats are also super comfy, and everything feels nice and premium inside. Definitely not lap-of-luxury levels, but high all the same. There are virtually no panel gaps, but there are some issues with the plastic trim pieces (see below).

Not so positives:
~I already tracked down some non-critical issues that needed fixing. Some trim pieces misaligned, or not fully set, etc. Also got the ol' wind noise from the triangle window issue. I put in a service request for all of the above and will see how that process goes.

~I also see what people have been saying about the height. It is a little bit of a challenge getting in and out, and 90% of the time I find myself sliding down that bolster, so it looks to be a spot where wear will likely catch up faster than expected. Hoping for an auto height lower on Park or something like that.

~On the software side, the native maps is not confidence-inspiring. I randomly tried to have it map to Palm Springs, CA, and it kept saying I will not have enough battery to make it there and would not route any charging stops. No such issue for SFO, LAX or any other location. Also, I found the navigation prompts volume to be significantly lower than my music, but this is probably an easy fix.

Overall, I am super pleased with the vehicle and can't wait to take it on some real adventures real s00n!

Seattle peeps, please tell me some good roads to try this on
I don't know where to launch from a stop, but it's fun to floor it starting from a low speed at a few locations with not much traffic. I find the northbound I5 express lane entrance just south of downtown (near Seneca exit?) has a nice slow ramp followed by expanding into two lanes with little traffic on a workday early afternoon. Another good one (with a passenger) is turning northbound onto I5 from eastbound 50th, and using the HOV ramp to zip past other cars (be careful!). Last involves departing West Seattle in the evening (9 pm is great) using the (now open) bridge, then taking the flyover to enter northbound 99; take the ramp slow, then launch to highway speeds. The last time I tried that with my Tesla, a very low, wide car in my rearview mirror kept up with me. I was thrilled to see a Lamborghini driver having as much fun as I was.

Excellent options, thank you!

I thought this was a feature on the R1S already?

Oh this is interesting - I don't see it as an option anywhere (explicitly at least) so I'll do some more digging to figure it out. Thanks!

@sevengroove I got my R1T yesterday and found a great stretch for flooring it, especially given that the road seems to be hidden from speed enforcement a bit. You'll need a passenger since it's an HOV on-ramp to the highway. It's long and underutilized, which feels safer than the other options I identified earlier.

Take I5 north to Everett, exit 41st street and turn west. Stay in the right lane and take the first turn onto 40th street, which curves back east taking you back to the highway. Turn south and you will take a left exit for the HOV entrance for southbound I5.

Here's where you turn:

Great tip - will save this for the next time I'm up north. Hope you're enjoying your R1T!

Fellow Seattleite. The answer to 'good roads' is clearly 'D - all of the above' 😆 I do probably drive way too aggressively in town for how much power this thing has.

If you're willing to risk a bit ticket (there are rarely police out this way just before and after rush hour when the road is quiet), Elliott Ave towads 15th/Ballard is wide, usually pretty empty, and has really good visibility for most cross-roads. Stay towards the center lanes in case anyone decides to pull out from a business like a moron.

I've done more dragging down that road than I care to admit 😁

Also, I'm installing the Kneel mode update now in my T, so hopefully you can get it soon and it'll be easier getting in/out!
