I know I'm not the only one whose ears perked up at the first mention that the limit of the R1 series fording capability was set by how high the water gets before the vehicles start to float.
Bring your hair-brained schemes to the table!
I'm thinking stabilizing pontoons mounted to a crossbar that runs through the gear tunnel. Then either just hang a big old rudder and electric motor out the back and captain yer R1T from the bed or run power from the gear tunnel to a motor on each pontoon and steer it tank style from the cabin. It would be sweet if you could integrate with the steering wheel paddles somehow.
Nice thing about that huge frunk is there's options on both ends to redistribute weight as needed.
* Yes I know this is a terrible idea, but feel free to go into specifically why as that could also be amusing.
