Custom short air hose

I like to use my air compressor for tasks that don't need a 30' hose. Blowing up an air mattress to sleep in the back, pumping up bike tires, blowing out dust, etc. But it's hard to find an air hose that's female on both ends, so I had an Etsy seller make me a custom 6' hose! Very happy with it, and thought I'd throw the idea out there if you are also frustrated with having to pull out the long hose every time.

i was going to, but the shop is offline. But there are a handful of folks who do custom air hoses on Etsy, if you contact any of them and request female to female, they should be happy to do it

You can just buy female NPT quick connects at many auto parts or hardware stores, and swap out the male fittings for them.

I couldn’t decide if 6’, 10’, or 15’ coiled (https://a.co/d/872DNg0) would be most useful for quick tasks, so I got all three and will be returning whichever ones aren’t preferred. You can get the 6’ and 10’ separately from the same maker if you know which size you want: https://a.co/d/8B6hN5t, but it was only $6 more than just the 10’ to get both, so I figured why not I could always keep one as male/female to have as an extender.

I've used the compressor and hose for the tires, and I like the idea of having a shorter cable for other uses. How do you swap out the male for a female? Do they just unscrew with a couple of wrenches? Use Teflon tape when you put the other female back on?

You can also buy this hose at many hardware stores and lumber yards. They sell he ends for the hose, then you can avoid the SS clamps. Of course not everybody wants to do this and then what do you do with the extra hose that you don't want?

Funny. I just did the same thing. Cost me around $30 and a 30’ coiled hose. Two female ends from Harbor freight. The swanky bike tire filler was the most expensive thing.

Very trivial to make your own. I happened to already have one half made with just threads on a hose piece, so I finished it off, and now it's an adapter for normal connections.

i bought this kit from harbor freight (https://www.harborfreight.com/premium-air-compressor-accessory-kit-20-piece-57621.html) hose comes with female connectors on both ends. I picked up a small bag at harbor freight too and the hose and all the accessories pack away nicely.
