Just cannot wait to show this.
This will definitely work. The existing L bracket from the truck cap is big enough but I do wish that it is 1/2" wider to be on the safe side. You may need another 1/8" washer for the height difference but that is about it. Strength wise, I don't have a very solid analysis on whether this will fully support a 600lb load since we are changing from tensile stress to shear stress but my gut feeling tells me that it will be okay. Does anyone has experience on this? Really any opinion will be appreciated.

I am definitely interested in going this route with the one I ordered. What I don’t quite understand about these photos: how do you fasten the cap to the Weistec inserts since it looks like the cap is cutout right there? Can you show a photo of it all hooked up?

With the appropriate materials, that looks pretty workable.

Got something delivered via freight today but haven’t opened it yet. Thinking it might be this topper.

That would be an amazingly quick delivery if so. I thought they were coming from China. If it made it here in 5 weeks, that would be amazing.

Just opened it and it’s the topper. Hopefully I can get around to assembling it at some point this month.

That’s awesome! Where are you located? Being in VT, I always expect things to take longer than most other places, but at least East Coast should be first (if I recall correctly).

The very first one has been delivered. I think the rest will be within the next 10 days. West coast is usually quicker than East Coast because the ocean freight gets than almost 2 weeks sooner.

I was also informed by the freight company that the shipping cost has increase significantly. I will find out if there is enough room to eat the cost, but there is a chance that the new order’s price may be increase slightly.

@Autofitpro So given that the testing of the Weistec mounts look promising with just further tinkering of the additional supporting pieces is it safe to say that if I place my order this weekend, the topper I receive will have these mounting components included? Or should I wait until you finalize everything?

@Autofitpro I finally caught up on this thread because I have not been really following.

If we bulk order weistec, they are near me and I can just do local pick up and we can work together in shipping them out so that we don’t do the double shipping.

as far as the load in the crossbar anchors, it says that the crossbar load is 250lbs but is that for the actual crossbar or is it the latch points? It could be stronger directly from the latch point. I know I’ve used them to tie down some stuff in my bed before but nothing too crazy.

The new toppers will not come with these special mounting components as they have to be custom made by another company. I am still trying to find out the pricing for a set of 4 but it’s likely going to be too expensive to be worth making it overseas.
