1982 Hi-Lo. We redid the inside and have loved it the 5 or so years we've had it. Just took it to Tallulah gorge to watch the kayaking this weekend. 1.6-1.7mpkwh

It looks like you're traveling with eBikes? I'm struggling to find a transport solution for our two Aventon Aventure.2 bikes, 77 lbs each with battery and 67 lbs without. With wheels intact, they're too long for the truck bed. What type of rack are you using? I appreciate any suggestions you may have. Thanks much and safe travels!

Yes! I've got a pair of Trek Rail EMTBs. I went with the kuat piston SRs. Bought them online and then ended up calling kuat to get the crossbar specific mounting brackets... probably wouldve been only a couple hundred more to order the rivian specific setup sold by rivian direct.....you would be really pushing the recommended spec with the bikes you have, but I am impressed with these racks and would guess you'd be ok. I pull my trailer quite a bit so I really wanted to avoid having them on a hitch rack.

Do you go up to Stevens with your Airstream and pup? That's my #2 reason for wanting one; travel ski.
I haven't done Stevens yet but I've camped at both Bachelor and Crystal a couple times each and it worked great. Power hookups are nice so I can leave an electric space heater running and not blow through all my propane while I'm skiing - in a pinch I can also plug the trailer into the Rivian's bed outlet and power the space heater that way, but typically if I've climbed a mountain and don't have a powered space, I'm minding the watts...

We picked the Basecamp 20 over other options like a teardrop or GFC (or even the Basecamp 16) specifically because it's nice to have a conditioned space with a table that you don't have to constantly be converting - plenty of room inside for three or four people to hang out and have a beer after a ski day, and for the dog to hang out comfortably all day. If you do convert the main bed it's even roomier. And with a Starlink Mini I can easily work from the trailer too.

I get about 1.2 mi/kwh average, more like 1.4 in the summer. The only ski area I've found in the Northwest that's really a no-fly-zone is Mt. Baker - with a LE Quad, I could just about make it up there and back from a Bellingham DCFC in the winter, but with zero margin for error. Too close for comfort. But I've gone mountain biking in Winthrop/Mazama and been down to Bachelor from Seattle many times (we a place in Sisters), no problems.

If the wife and dog were a non-factor I'd probably look at something like an Escapod Topo 2, which should have much less of a range hit and is closer to a "true" four season trailer. The Basecamp does OK in the winter but it's not very propane-efficient to heat and the plumbing will freeze in a hurry if you don't keep it warm. (And a space heater won't protect the plumbing - you need to use the propane furnace which is ducted around the pipes.)

Tows great in the winter, I've been up to Bachelor in two feet of fresh powder at -9F with no issues. I run Blizzak LTs on the truck and keep a pack of autosocks for both the truck and trailer in case of a chain requirement, I've only had to use them once but it was like driving on velcro, pretty awesome.

🤯 I never realized Crystal had camping! I got the Ikon pass for next year, so even more reason to get a camper!

Exact reason I want 20'+. Thanks for confirming

We were pulling a 22' Airstream Caravel but have now switched to a 30' Airstream Flying Cloud. The both tow very easily. The 30' is a bit harder on the charging or maneuvering in tight lots in general. We often have to disconnect but almost never did with the 22'. However we prefer the 30' because it has an office and it is big enough that we can both work out of it while we travel which makes it easier for us to visit more places.

Looks like there’s enough of us Rivian Airstreamers to form our own ACI Intra-club!

There were only two of us that showed up at ACI International last year - any of you going to York PA this year?

What's your mileage with 22' and 30'?

I hovered around 1-1.1mi/kwh towing my 20’ Outdoors RV weighing in at 7000lbs. Not huge but heavier than most in its size range as a result of the real four season insulation and quality.

What's your mileage with 22' and 30'?
Not that different actually. The 30' does not have as many miles on it as of yet but it is looking like it is converging on ~170 miles whereas the 22' was converged on 165 miles. Both with the cruise control set to 65 most of the time. (Varies a lot on a particular route but you get the idea.)

I am not too surprised they are similar because the cross section is comparable and I figure most of the loss is drag. In reality I usually beat these numbers but still plan around them and think since generated as an average by Rivian they are good for comparisons.

Although they do seem to take a while to stabilize. Here are the numbers from another trip. Also possible we were carrying less water and supplies.
