Thanks. It was a total gut job. Managed to save the original stove and fridge though as we wanted to keep the charm of the era. Completely reoutfitted the interior with modern insulation, cabin heater, 12v system, etc. Used all stainless and marine hardware and fittings.

That's awesome. What did you replace the elephant skin with? My in-laws have a Boler that doesn't need as much work, but the insulation is peeling off.

This is so great seeing so many others that tow with their Rivian’s! Such an incredible variety of trailers.

We tow a 2024 Airstream 23FBT that weighs about 6000 pounds loaded and get 1.3 mi/kwh at 60 mph. Wind can take it as low as 0.9 and I have seen upwards of 1.6 too. And just slowing to 55 mph helps a lot, but I do start to get nervous I’m too slow!

I have no issues with range and having to stop every couple hours - sure it would be nice if I could go maybe 50-100 miles more. My bigger issue is finding trailer friendly charging stations vs having to nose in like the picture above.

Also shout out to the nuCamp owners! This is our second trailer and our first was a nuCamp Tab 320 that we loved and towed with a Model Y. I just couldn’t stand up in it and when we got the Rivian we saw it as a chance to get something bigger. And then I see some of you towing 27 and 28 foot Airstreams - wow! I get nervous as it is with ours!

Our season starts 4/11 with a dewinterizing trip just up the road. Safe travels! Hope to see you all on the campgrounds this season.

3/8" EDPM foam insulation with 3mm wool felt for the finish. It's way better than the elephant skin that was in there and doesn't sweat. I don't know why people treat that stuff like it's the greatest thing ever.

You must be rich 36k for that camper! And you are pulling with a Rivian 😂 So much for keeping up with the Joneses anymore.
Have you priced travel trailers lately? For a brand-new one, $36k is *CHEAP*. (Which is why I've never owned a brand new travel trailer/camper.)

Aliner Expedition with the fixed queen bed. We’ve had the Aliner about two years (and the R1T Launch Edition almost 3 years) and done about a dozen trips, mostly 3-5 day trips in NC, SC, and VA. Rivian has chargers on the Blue Ridge Parkway which is empowering (especially when they used to be free!). Efficiency is 1.3 to 1.6 depending on temperature, speed, and elevation gain/loss. I try to charge every 150 miles or so. Longest stretches have been about 175 to 180 with downhill miles helping. Never below 15-20%. Tesla chargers help a lot in trip planning. We also often try to hopscotch NC state parks which have 30/50 amp hookups, 30 to the camper and 50 for the Rivian portable charger. I have a very heavy duty NEMA 14-50 15 foot extension cord, which is often needed to reach the charge post. But it’s hard to beat a full charge when you leave the campground!

Replying to myself, coming back home today, on the first leg from 1,800 feet to about 200 feet, I got 1.70 miles per kWh with 180.3 miles and 106 kWh. So, I had about 40 miles (16%) left. Now, I stayed in the right lane on freeways at about 60 or 61 unless I needed to dodge traffic. 58 on 55 mph roads. The Rivian’s “range at end” metric was just about perfect the whole time.

Started with a NuCamp T@B 400 but replaced it with an Airstream Trade Wind 25FBT. It’s around 8000 lbs fully loaded and I use an equal-i-zer WDH.

Efficiency is around 1.1-1.4 at 65MPH and the Rivian honestly pulls like there’s nothing back there.

I've dropped my camper a few times where they have chargers at a rest stop where I'd be sticking out in the parking lot blocking other cars. It's a pain and adds 5-10 minutes to the charge time.

I've been curious as to what Travel Trailers/RVs members of this community are towing with their R1Ts/R1Ss (and in the future, maybe R2s and R3s!?) - If you have some shots, share them! Give us some info about your set-up, the good and the bad, and whatever other thoughts you might have...

I'll start off:

Wife and I tow an inTech Sol Dawn. It's a 16' with some funky design choices that we really love - tall enough for me to stand up in (I'm 6'3"), decently light for what is packed in there, and is easy to maintain (winterizing takes about 15 minutes, and that includes draining the water heater).

One thing that would be nice is slightly bigger sleeping space - I'm quite tall and my wife is too, and no matter how we arrange ourselves, the sleeping space is just a bit too small. We've thought about bumping up to a bigger rig in the series (the Sol Dusk), but the cost right now is just a bit much. But if our current trailer met with an accident...... hehehe.

We tow a 28’ Airstream with our Dual, Max, Performance R1T.
The 8000 lb (fully loaded) trailer tows beautifully, with about a 50% range hit. Our previous 23’ Airstream would be easier in many charging locations, but in over 8000 miles of travel last year, we had to unhitch only three times. At this point, we’re too comfortable in the 28’ to downsize, though I do have a deposit down on a Pebble Fow.

All y'all Airstream MnFers are gonna get me in trouble with the wifey! I keep wanting to get a 20' Bambi but she keeps vetoing. If I show up with one, you guys get to explain why.

Get your Airstream Bambi 20FB. You wont regret it. We got ours last year and love it. Good weight and ‘nimble’. Solar package for boondocking. Large kitchen for easy cooking. Separate shower from toilet and sink. Be sure to add a bumper. I use ours as my daily office (Telehealth) when not weekending. Looking forward to a couple of extended trips this year. R1T is great tow vehicle.
