I've been curious as to what Travel Trailers/RVs members of this community are towing with their R1Ts/R1Ss (and in the future, maybe R2s and R3s!?) - If you have some shots, share them! Give us some info about your set-up, the good and the bad, and whatever other thoughts you might have...

I'll start off:

Wife and I tow an inTech Sol Dawn. It's a 16' with some funky design choices that we really love - tall enough for me to stand up in (I'm 6'3"), decently light for what is packed in there, and is easy to maintain (winterizing takes about 15 minutes, and that includes draining the water heater).

One thing that would be nice is slightly bigger sleeping space - I'm quite tall and my wife is too, and no matter how we arrange ourselves, the sleeping space is just a bit too small. We've thought about bumping up to a bigger rig in the series (the Sol Dusk), but the cost right now is just a bit much. But if our current trailer met with an accident...... hehehe.

We're using our Viking 12.0 TD XL for the moment. It's tight and my daughter complains about her sleeping situation - so likely to change after this year!
Some pics from last year below, cheers!

I tow a '05 TrailManor 2619. Sleeps up to 6 people. I get about 1.39 mi/kWh while towing on 20" AT's. Base weight is 2673 Lbs but the truck estimates it is 4500 Lbs when loaded.

I like how it collapses to reduce the drag coefficient. Also like that it is hard-walls all around so it protects us from the elements, unlike other pop-ups.

Hey @VandalSibs this was timely info for me. We are looking at travel trailers and the Intech Sol line is on our list. We've been favoring the Dusk for the same reason you mention, a larger sleeping space. We're also looking at the Basecamp 20 and the Oliver Elite II. We are trying to rent representative models on Outdoorsy this summer to get a feel for them. What efficiency do you see pulling the Sol Dawn?

Happy to help!

We seem to average 1.3-1.4 mi/kWh, but have seen up to 1.6 as well.

I've logged the three trips we took last year in this thread.

We occasionally tow our 26' Macgregor sailboat and use it as a camper between watery destinations.

Looking at an overland trailer, like an M1101, but haven't yet pulled the trigger. Enjoying our truck bed tent and not sure it would really be any advantage, except that we could all have it all kitted out so that we could just hitch it up and go without packing the truck.

2013 '16 Airstream "Bambi". Getting an average of 1.4 mi/kWh over 300 miles, mostly back and forth to the Colorado mountains from Denver. Tows like a dream, hardly even notice it's there.

Nice! We looked for one of those but couldn’t find a good one for a decent price locally. I would have thought better efficiency, so I guess it isn’t too big a deal.

My dad pointed these out to me some 20 years ago. I looked at one and moved on. My interest piqued after getting the Rivian and doing some in-bed tent camping. Got this one for a steal. It was only $7500 on FB Marketplace! Already been on 5 trips with it since getting it in September.

I'm pulling an Airstream Basecamp 20X.

Rivian R1T R1S Current Travel Trailers / RVs you're towing - Reviews and Recommendations! R1T and Basecam

I tried out a Sol Horizon too, but ultimately decided I liked the Basecamp better, mostly for the larger sleeping area (the shape is a bit odd but the total area is very close to a king bed).

At 55mph I see 1.5 or even 1.6 mi/kWh, at 65 it drops to 1.3 mi/kWh or so.

Having a trailer makes charging stops so much nicer, since you can just flop in the trailer for 45 mins or so, have a snack, and get back on the road.

My 1.39 avg was going 65-75 mph. I'm going down I-5 this week so I'll have long, straight stretches where I'll test at 55 mph to see what efficiency I'll get.

We have a 2021 Jayco Jayfeather 24BH. 6,300lbs dry, probably around 7k lbs loaded with food/drinks/stuff.

The bunk beds are great for our two teenage kids. Big awning (21') is one of our favorite features (especially if it's raining). Outdoor kitchen, tons of storage, large refridgerator, plus a mini fridge. "Kayak door" in the back for gear. Love the layout of this thing.

As the kids get older, they're spending less time with mom/dad. We'll probably downgrade to Jayco's 22RB model (same floor plan, minus the bunk beds, but with a larger bathroom, about 3' shorter in length) when they more/less completely quit camping with us, unless we can find something smaller that we like better.

Jayco 22RB Link: https://www.jayco.com/rvs/travel-trailers/2025-jay-feather/22rb/

Our camping trips are always less than 100 miles from home (so far). I average 1.11 mi/kwh when towing it.

The Rivian does a much better job towing it than my last two gas half-ton trucks. I use a weight distribution hitch, of course.

I replaced the two 60AH lead acid batteries with one big 230AH lithium battery for whenever we dry-camp outside of a campground. We have a 100w portable solar panel to help the battery out in those situations.

We towed an Airstream Basecamp 20x for about a year, in non windy conditions were getting maybe 1.3 doing 60-65. Switched to a 25' Airstream Globetrotter and efficiency has dropped about 20% down to 1.0 - 1.1 (it's wider and taller) so that is to be expected. 100-125 miles between charging stops. We've towed over 20,000 miles between the 2, and wish we could get a little more range but are loving the EV towing experience.
