Was just at Costco in Tustin, CA (my local Costco wasn't authorized to service Rivians yet according to their manager; refused to use my pucks due to liability issues). Luis, one of the Tustin employees was super helpful. Tried looking up every combination of the Defender 22" tires (I think we have two options, the 115H and the 119) and for whatever reason, it kept saying they were discontinued. He even called in to their supplier and they said they wouldn't have any updates for him until 6–8 weeks out.

My assumption based on what I see on the Costco website, they are just out of stock at the moment. Not discontinued... can't imagine 22" Defenders being discontinued. Anyone have any details? I'm seeing them in stock at some local Americas/Discount Tires. As an alternative, I see the Bridgestone Alenza AS Ultras. They have an 80,000 mile warranty and is rated 115H XL.

Searching for Bridgestone across this forum turns up ZERO results, think there's a thread mentioning some other 20" variant. Looked for some reviews and the Defenders dominate every ranking or review. So I might just be out of luck at the moment and have to wait around until they are back in stock if I want to stick w/ purchasing through Costco?

These are not discontinued. At least not according to Michelin and discount tire. My local Costco says they are temporarily out of stock. But they are not discontinued.

Continental Terrain contact HT is another good option instead of the ltx.

The Bridgestone ascent at is the only one I've seen on the riv. They make good tires as well.

They show available to me today. They are probably the tire I'll go with when I replace my 22" Pirelli's.

New Defender MS/2s with the 115 load index (20 inch) crushed it in the snow on mountain roads for a ski trip this weekend and then when you hit the highway they are like riding on clouds...

If you’re interested in feed back. I put these on my R1S a couple of weeks ago. We don’t get a lot of rain in SoCal but had some last week and this week, I have no complaints on how they handle in the rain including puddling on freeways. Decent handling in dry weather as well and I see no difference in the ride based on the original Perrilli tires.

The road noise is considerably lower than the original with 3/32 left on the tread. It’s been a couple of years since the Perrilli were new so I can’t say for sure if they are quieter than a new set of those.

I only have 400 miles on them so far my efficiency is similar in the 2.2 miles per kWh, that is where the originals were for me. I’ll have a better idea once I get more miles on them. They also come with a 70k mile Warrenty, don’t expect to get that but America’s tire has been great honoring the tread wear Warrenty on my Tesla.

Best part is they were over $1000 lower out the door than the Perrillis.

Thanks for the feedback.

We do get a fair amount of rain where I live, to wet handling is important. I also like that they are available at costco.

Actually, I'd prefer a more performance focused tire, something in the "grand touring" style, but I don't think that's going to happen. The most important characteristics for me are: efficiency, quiet, and comfortable. Looks don't really matter to me.

I'm also in SoCal (OC). You were able to get those installed at America's Tire, and for that price? Which location? I would've gone there if I was confident I could get them to install it. I thought they were adamant about the 116+ load rating? Did you price match Costco to get that price? I could've sworn when I looked, including installation they were more expensive than Costco. You actually came in under my Costco total. And installation day was a PITA... https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/michelin-defender-ltx-m-s2-115-vs-119-costco.41200/

I did have them installed at America’s tire on Warner in HB. There was an $80 rebate from Michelin, total out the door was $1350.

I’m very happy with the tires, just got back from a long trip, have 7700 miles on them already.
