Don't forget, he's on Sony's poo poo list as well and that's a company that actively hates their customer base.
Despite comments in this thread, Geohot has expressed a lot of respect for Tesla, especially regarding FSD. He says Tesla is like Apple, while Comma AI is like Android... everyone else is like Windows Phone.

As well he should. Which is why he's considered smart and he's respected. Tesla, despite Enron Musk, or because he hired the right people, ignited the EV revolution AND addressed the concern for long distance EV travel. Props where props are due to be sure.

No, you don't.
Performance modifications you do from everything I have seen in insurance documents.

Once it reaches normal production, around $1200 for the Comma 3X device that does that work and $300 for the harness that connects it to the vehicle.

Right now he's charging around $999 for the early run harnesses to help fund development. Either way well worth it.
If it included upgraded cameras (similar to the ones on the Gen2 models), I'd pay $2,000 and wouldn't even use the FSD features --those Gen1 cameras are so, so bad šŸ˜”

What are you using them for? Reading the print on the front page of the NY Times? While the cameras in my Teslas are better, in actual use, the Rivians work just fine for me. I am not trying to see what color eyeliner the lady next to me is trying to put on. I just need them to discern what the objects are next to me.

The only place where I personally could see a use for higher resolution is if using gear guard. Even then, you still may not get enough info if something is done to your truck like someone bumping your car in a parking lot.

The Comma unit doesnā€™t use the on board Rivian cameras.

Wife is totally on board with spending the money, she's pretty tired of the lack of Autopilot level ability in the Rivian. But that Discord. What a piece of shit way to try to collaborate on complex topics. Holy shit. Discord is the only thing keeping me from putting in money and effort. There's seemingly no place to find a concise doc on the current status/needs/path? Or info on what's actually available to buy/collaborate? Sheesh.

Right but none of the Rivian stuff is there, that I can find. I understand Comma and have loaded it, but need to get the Rivian parts.

It's still in development. You can't get this working in your car just yet. Hopefully soon! I personally talked to Geohot aka George Hotz (the founder of Comma AI) and told him we need Rivian ASAP! He knows Lucas is working on it and said they'll be prioritizing it at their Comma "hackathon" event next month. If you just want a consumer ready product, wait until it's officially supported and there will be installation guides and everything you need

i donā€™t, and was under the impression that they want testers and funding. But navigating Discord is more work than installing this, lol.

Interview with a George Hotz at CES 2025; kind of a fluff piece with no real technical details and also didnā€™t see anything specific to Rivian In the video. Covers some of the design goals of the system (driverā€™s assist, not self-driving) and is only 6 minutes longā€¦.

Well I'm not on YouTube but I did talk to him myself. Even got a free hat and bought a new Comma 3X on live stream!
