I grew up on a farm where we had a series of Chevy Silverados, so have always had an affinity for them. Having said that, this EV version doesn't appeal to me. I don't like the black cladding around the wheel wells or the wings on the bed. The latter may be there to help with air flow when the mid-gate is open. It looks like the lower trim level adds quite a bit of additional black cladding to the front. I noticed the lower trim work model has a really cheap looking interior with completely different screens. Both trim levels (I looked through all 100 plus photos on Motortrends article) have a cluttered looking dash, making me appreciate even more the clean, elegant design of the R1T.

I'm glad Ford and Chevy will be selling electric pickups, but Rivian is the right choice for me.

People are going to have to get used to the angled air skirts on the sides of pickup beds, greatly helps with coefficient of drag. EVs are much more affected by air resistance as a proportion of their stored energy versus ICE vehicles.

I didn't say Android Auto app, I said Android Automotive (I previously posted something regarding the difference between them).

GMC implements Android Automotive features in a heavily customized way and some manufacturers have added this capability to their cars.

Streaming apps would only work when the car is in park.

I am really impressed with the design. It is like the antithesis to the Hummer EV, and more original than the F150 Electric. I think it will be a popular vehicle people (in general), and a popular vehicle for that buyers of the R1T / F150 Lightning will compare against.

If someone has a hardcore off-roader hobby, the Hummer EV and R1T will compared against each other a ton. I don’t think the Silverado EV changes that.

All in all, a great looking vehicle, competition will force every vendor to step it up, and really deliver an awesome product.

I hope both Ford and GM/Chevrolet sell a ton of their EV trucks. It's good for the whole EV market and ensures investment in things like the charging networks, green energy, etc. Without Ford, GM/Chevy, Rivian successfully selling EV trucks we'd probably be left with just Tesla's CyberTruck as our only option.

Yes, I’m not a Chevy guy at all but it really looks nice. Love that tailgate, like that rear opening that is really cool, and That range is outstanding! It’s compelling for sure. Just still too big for my garage, I have redone my garage so the the R1T will fit ?

Disagree on the styling. The performance off road doesn't seem that great. Otherwise, good points.
