In Conserve Mode he achieved 1.85mi/kWh compared to 2.09mi/kWh
He had a Thule roof rack and an iKamper tent on the back when he tested with both tires. So the Pirelli still wins on efficiency. Of course the Falkens are very much more capable off road and they show to be a lot more durable, especially on the sidewalls.

Personally, I need the range so I'll stick with the Pirellis for now but I've also decided to use my R1T on less challenging trails. I'm saving the harder stuff for my Jeep, which has 37" Falken A/T3Ws. I kinda wish I had know the 4W's were coming out so I could put those on the Jeep but no biggie.

What is the difference between the 3W and 4W? Is it just a newer version or is the 4W more off road capable?

I will probably replace my Pirellis with the Toyo Open Country AT3 EV when the time comes...as long as the reviews are decent.

What is the difference between the 3W and 4W? Is it just a newer version or is the 4W more off road capable?

I will probably replace my Pirellis with the Toyo Open Country AT3 EV when the time comes...as long as the reviews are decent.

Basically better side blocks, thicker sidewalls, different rubber material, revised tread.

The problem for EVs is that it's a pretty heavy tire. The Pirelli AT is 48lbs while the Falken is 65.3lbs. I'm keeping an eye open for the Toyo's as well. Those weight 53lbs. At a minimum, if I get Pirelli performance with better sidewalls, I'm in.

48 to 63 is a huge difference! Could be worth it if you spend a bunch of time on the trails though.

I really liked the Toyos on my Tacoma, but I don't know if I would trust them on some really hardcore (rocky) trails. Luckily I don't do that as much anymore.

This is what I'm waiting for. I'm on Blizzak LTs right now, so I have a little time for the Toyos to come out, but my Pirellis don't have a lot of life left in them. I don't know how some people got 20k+ miles on those things, but mine were down around 6/32nds at 9k miles. Maybe they ran them down to the nubs? Either way, at another 10-15% range hit over the Pirelli ATs, I'm not likely to put the Falkens on any time soon. I ran the AT3W on my 4Runner and they were great off-road, but not as confidence inspiring on-road in anything but dry weather.

I haven’t measured mine yet but they look pretty good at 7500 miles. I would still be shocked to get to 20k because I definitely have a lead foot. I hope we see the Toyo’s and maybe other options by summer!

These trucks if you do both on road and off really need different sets of wheels/tires IMO for each task.

The stock pirelli AT do about as good a job as you can do to give a balance between on and off road capabilities. I don't do anything too crazy these days... Just light off road stuff but if I was hitting the trails regularly I would have a separate setup for that and swap them. Then keep my 21s on there for daily driving.

Rivian really needs to give us the capability to switch the tire config in the UI.

I had the Falken Wildpeak AT/3W’s on my Toyota FJ and they were by far the best tires I have owned. For me, they performed well in all situations - off road, highway (quiet, even at nearly 30K miles), even in most snow conditions. I live at the base of the Sierras and, as a skier, I spend a fair amount of time driving in snowy conditions. These Falkens, while not dedicated snow tires, always got me through, with little drama. In fact, this is one of the main reasons I got these over the KO2’s. And, they wore very well. I would absolutely buy these tires, again! I get the impression that the AT/4W is a bit more aggressive version of the AT/3W.
