anyone having issues with the auto dim feature? I have it enabled at set for 5pm to 6am but mine seems to be stuck on night/dim mode. Playing with the times and toggling the setting didn't change anything. I am assuming I am missing something obvious :)
I have the same issue with auto dim. I can't figure it out. AA is set to auto dim and I set the screen both ways and it seems to stay on the last setting with no auto dimming

Regarding the screen staying on, i tested different variations of proximity settings in the vehicle, just to sumarize that ideally Rivian would address the Proximity polling when parked at home to be less chatty in polling for a nearby device, as this is what is keeping the device screen on at certain times. (I wonder how much this also impacts the vampire drain some people referenced in other unrelated threads)

What i've noticed (testing my Android phone here at home) is that in the Proximity settings for location behavior at home in the Rivian's in-car software settings, impacts how long and frequent the device comes on based on how often the Rivian polls and 'wakes up':

Scenario 1: if the Home proximity behavior is set to Lock and Unlock, then the car constantly unlocks when i walk nearby inside the house, and that then automatically wakes up the screen so effectively the Android Auto connection stays constantly on until i go out of range

Scenario 2: If I have it set to Lock only, it still wakes up the device screen when i am nearby and the Android Auto connection is constantly on until out of range (this feels like an opportunity to optimize the car software to not poll for the nearby phone device at all, once the car is Locked in Lock only setting)

Scenario 3: If i have it set to "Off" it wakes up way less so clearly that reduces the polling but I still see the phone randomly connect to Android Auto inside the house, maybe once every hour or two vs constantly, and then it goes back to sleep after a few seconds. I don't have to leave the proximity radius for it to turn off again.

Scenario 4: This is unusable, but was a good test to confirm that the waking up it is purely dependent on the detection by the vehicle of the nearby phone device - If I go to the App Settings in Android and go to the permissions on the Rivian app and remove "Nearby Devices" from the app permissions - then it stops waking up completely BUT now the app doesn't function with the car (it gives a note in the app asking to re-enable the feature).

So...ideally there would be some workaround/fix on the vehicle software to not poll at all when at home and once the car is Locked under a Lock-Only setting, or the Proximity Lock settings set to Off.

My favorite is Spotify suddenly blasting out of my phone when walking around in my house or returning to the R1T and having my phone start playing Spotify and the R1T stereo also playing Spotify - usually the same song but not synced.

I think you are right about this and the vampire drain. At home, my phone and fob are above the garage and I think this is frequently keeping the vehicle awake. I signed up for Electrifi before leaving the vehicle at the airport. The truck is spending way less time awake there. I’ll see what happens when I head home.

(I let the truck charge to 75% on the first day, then set the charging level back to 70% to account for vampire drain over the days I’m gone)

@EV Sportline what sets the time that the auto dim settings reference? It would seem this is what is messing up the adjustments. Maybe it is using a different time zone?

Used mine more over the weekend. Definitely happy with how it works and how smooth it is. Did have it steal a phone call while I was inside my house (about 40 feet away from the garage). Started on my airpods, and switched to the Carplay mid call. Also had one time where the screen froze and had to be restarted with the button on top, and another where it kicked itself out to the blue menu screen and then back into CarPlay after about 10-15 seconds.

I was also running ABRP and the Rivian nav at the same time to check on range. Will need to adjust the ABRP refernce consumption, but the Rivian estimates were very close even with my AT tires (truck still configured for 21s) and freezing temps with high winds. I actually beat the initial estimates by 2-4% in each direction of my 160 mile round trip. This is one of the (maybe the only?) difficulties of using a CarPlay app for a longer trip vs the Rivian nav.

Hey everyone,

I successfully installed the CarPlay screen and everything was working perfectly! Then I tried switching to AirPlay to test streaming YouTube, and couldn't get that to work, then I did everything they showed in the install video to go back to CarPlay, and it seems to successfully connect to the device, but CarPlay refuses to come back on.

(using iPhone 15 Pro, iOS 17.3 - see pic for EV1 screen firmware)

I have tried:

- Turn phone on Airplane mode
- Turn off EV1 device
- Turn EV1 device back on
- Turn off airplane mode on phone

- Select CarLink on EV1 Screen
- Locate device on Bluetooth and connect
- Accept all prompts to pair/connect and share contact on phone
- The EV1 screen then just sits on the connect instructions and CarPlay never comes back on, even though it shows that it's connected on both devices, and it worked the first time I tried it.

I have tried:

- rebooting EV1 screen and phone
- removing device from bluetooth and doing the connect process all over again (tried several times)
- I have also tried just waiting for several minutes and nothing
- reset EV1 device back to factory settings
- cleared all connected devices from EV1
- updating iOS

Any ideas to try?

Cool, I just updated to 17.3 so hope it works! I guess you'll explain how to download/install?
the update is super easy. you can download our file and put it on a micro sd card, and insert the card in the dash. when the dash powers up, it auto loads the new firmware!

I have done that a couple of times and played with swapping the times. A few others had posted on this thread with the same issue. I swear it worked initially but now it's stuck.
hmm, stuck like it doesnt swap over? I'm working on making the device 'time' more obvious.

yeah it seems like it stays in whatever mode its in. Mine was staying on night mode until I turned the setting back off and back on. Now it stays on day mode. I can't tell if it's confused about the time or just stuck. I need to experiment a bit more. Does it get the current time of day from the phone or is there a way to set it?

Same issue as others. I love this screen for CarPlay BUT I have to remove the Bluetooth/carplay config on my iPhone every night when I get home otherwise the screen “grabs” my phone and it’s Bluetooth and WiFi every few minutes. Disabled unlock at home. No benefit. I’m shocked that this F23 fuse isnt one that requires vehicle entry or something more than “the car is awake”. And the button on top of the screen or the voice control of “turn off display” doesn’t actually turn it off. I’ve also considered unplugging the USB C every night when I get home. Not ideal.
Wonder if getting this would be good, toggle on/off inline switch
