Yikes! That is a steep generally but likely onpar for an adventure vehicle like the Rivian.

My brother-in-law pays $1K PER axle to replace brake pads every 12-16 months on his Land Rover HSE so you are doing better than he is.

My surprise is that you had that much wear even with regen.

Curious, do people seeing a lot of brake dust and/or pad wear driving really hard?

I have 28k on my R1S, I never see brake dust on my wheels and when I did my last tire rotation around 26k all of my pads looked even and barely worn. I do tend to letup early when approaching lights and let regen do its thing I’m thinking that might help minimize my brake wear. I’m sure living in an EV friendly climate like we have here in SoCal plays a part as well.

As a side note, 95k miles on our Model S, still a lot of life left on the original pads on that vehicle as well.

Seems reasonable...

Mine has 54k on it now and brake pads look brand new. Early R1T Quad-Lrg.

In the 3rd winter now and never had an "inspection" or any maintenance done to brake or brake system.

This is the reason the 7,500 "inspection" is important. I am sure if you caught this lets say at 15k or 22.5k they would warranty all items. I was very concerned about this and will be doing one at 22.5k again to make sure wear is even. No reason all 4 should be wearing early on inside. You should get 125k out of a set of pads on the Rivian if wearing evenly.

I would replace the fronts myself and the rear I would have them do. Will save you a lot of $$$.
I agree with the fact the pads should last past 100k. But I’ve never seen break pads covered under warranty for wear.

I had an Acura that had sticking calipers and fried the rear pads at 25k. Acura 100% covered it as they understood that was very premature. But Acura was always excellent to work with for warranty/service and I have learned it probably isn't reasonable to compare Rivian to Acura or Lexus. Seems more appropriate to compare them to Chevy/Ford as domestics and Land Rover/BMW/MB for foreign. And Rivian probably on par with them.

But that is a calipers issue which is covered by warranty. That’s why they covered the pads

I'd have to dig up the paperwork. I said caliper but I don't actually know if it was a sticking piston or a sticking slide pin. But even sticking calipers I am not sure are covered past 12 months 12k for most manufacturers. But maybe I am wrong. In all the millions of miles I have driven in my life it was the only brake I ever had that had any issues with it.

Parts: twice what I expected, you can find plenty of "performance" quality pads at half the price
Labor: For a Rivian, I can see just shy of 2 hours. It would take me at least that long DIY. Their labor rates are on par so I'll allow it
Taxes: I hate Seattle...

Thoughts?
If they are pin type, totally worth attempting on your own.

I do have a fair amount of dust, but don't drive crazy... Except for that handicap tag dude this morning going 39 in a 60 in the left lane. I had to rage around him, that was absurd!

I'm not expecting pads parts cost to be warrantied, even the fluid change. Just the pad labor and ensuring a proper pin lube this time. They admitted early builds didn't have them lubed but never did an FSAM.

I'm a reasonable asshole, let's strike a deal where I pay for brake fluid parts/labor and pads parts, but not labor. I don't like the expensive pads, but so it goes.

Agreed, if I can't come to an agreement with them I may remove it when I show up.

Premature inside pad ware on all 4 wheels seems like a manufacturing defect not normal use ware, this should be warrantied. I had this issue happen on my Hummer H2 at about 60k miles and GM replaced all pads at no charge including labor.

Seems way cheap to me in this day and age of what things cost

Also, most Rivian owners will never need to replace their pads

You're getting off cheap!!! We have a 2015 Nissan Rogue with 160k miles on it, and the last two times we had to have the brakes replaced (with OEM, not aftermarket parts), the repair bill was in the $2,500 range!!!

Considering that the vehicle is paid off, is used as a daily commuter car (read: ROAD WEAR), and has had no, zip, zilch, nada major recalls in the 10 years we've owned it, and that is still rides as good as it did when we drove it off the lot in 2015 - WE'LL ACCEPT THE REPAIR BILL.

If you have the setting enabled to augment when regen is low, you might be using them more than you think. The cruise control also uses them.
