I have black on black R1T with the black 22’s and would not trade it for any of the other colors. Pretty much identical to your picture.

If you are rough on your paint and don’t want to hand wash or get PPF, black paint may not be the best choice if you are hyper vigilant about blemishes.

Never again. Swirl marks, scratches, etc show up so much easier. As much as I love the Rivian Blue, its White/Silver/Grey for me going forward.

I had a black F150 for years. Loved the look when it was clean, but turned out that wasn't very often! I decided I just wasn't going to let it bug me. If you have the time/energy/money to keep it clean - no worries. If you don't and it'll bother you, tread carefully...

I've owned two black vehicles. Look good when clean, not good the rest of the time. And you have to be REALLY careful when you clean them, because they get swirls if you even glance at the paint the wrong way.

Never again.

Have owned 2 black cars. Had a 88 325ic but it was a pain keeping it clean Still own 1 because 87 Grand Nationals subscribed to the Henry Ford school of paint color choices. But black is a color I prefer to allow other people to enjoy as it’s just too much work for me On a regularly driven vehicle

Personally, I would only consider black again if I were going to do something like an XPEL Stealth wrap.

I had one black vehicle years ago and never again. I couldn’t live with a black vehicle and the upkeep for the paint. I went with GW and did full PPF on the front. White hides so many paint defects….especially non-metallic white. It definitely shows the bugs up front, but the PPF will prevent any paint etching, etc from those.

It’s a bit easier if you have indoor garage parking for primary usage. Also mandatory to go with PPF and ceramic coating, but I tend to do so with any color.

I have black on black. Have had to clay bar some stuff off.

I do waterless washes and have the detail spray handy so clean up is just 10-15 minutes in the evening to detail / clean after a shower.

Also don't see the point in being super anal about the paint. It'll get scratched and swirled and stuff. I won't purposely make it worse, but life should be lived. Got better things to worry about.

Also keep it in the garage.

Wouldn't do black otherwise.

I own two black cars and absolutely love the way they look; the first 10 minutes after cleaning. Seriously though, if you're into cleaning your cars like me, then get black. If not-get a more tame colour. My R1S is set at silver because I don't have the time to clean a truck every weekend, otherwise it would be black.

I am 3 days in with midnight black that I got out of the shop in order to get it sooner. My preferred color was the grey. Unfortunately, for me they switched to rail right after I cracked which delayed me getting it. Color aside, it's thus far the best car I've ever driven. I kinda wish I'd stayed the course & I may would have gotten the grey sooner. That being said, we would kinda like to keep a lower profile & I think the black looks the least like a Rivian than any of the other colors. Also, we got it dirty on the 2nd day and I think it looks kinda cool dirty. We got it even more dirty today & it wears it well. The black mountain interior is perfect.....absolutely love it. Too bad we are slobs & will trash it sooner than later.

You've got my configuration and I have gone back and forth on keeping OC (I recently switched to BM in hopes of winning the "lottery" but am thinking I will switch back).

How are you feeling about OC these days? If Rivian lets me sign a PBA to lock in the $7,500 credit, I might have to chose on the spot.

Black paint, you either love or hate it. I love the look of a freshly clean black car but beings as how I only have a carport, it’ll be white/silver/gray for me.
But maybe forest green.
