I am having 10% range loss, after last update update , battery capacity keeps dropping, every day going down as bit , now its sitting at 120kw, but when I charge is up to 70% it regain up to 126kw, but later sitting 70% charge again gradually drop to 120 in a day or 2. should I be worried?

Gen-1 Quad motor 21 Inch wheels ( 36000km /22300miles ) : 70% range is 332 km (206 miles) and 100% dropped to 470km (292 miles), now its more aligned to off road tires and wheels;

looks like 10% drop in range and capacity . however on actual driving I am getting worst actual range, hardly 50% of posted range ; not seen that much range lost in last winter, last winter it was 15-20% loss

Please advice ....

I am experiencing the same thing since last update - charged to 100% for a trip over holidays and max charge is down a full 10% - repeated for return trip - same issue. 2024 G1 RS Dual Motor .

How are you determining what your battery capacity is? That is not a simple thing to measure.

When fully charged without setting a destination in addition to 100% charge reading you get a mileage available reading - this has dropped by over 10% of total former capacity . I understand when setting a destination it’s factoring in temperature, terrain etc - but this is available miles at 100% charged .

There's a few threads on this, here and on Reddit, and I'm not sure we've gotten an official response from Rivian, but it seems that the last update has changed the algorithm for calculating the battery capacity to take temperature into account. The metric is visible in ElectraFi and Home Assistant, but comes from the Rivian API.

This would explains why it fluctuates so much, and why the number is higher after a charge (battery warms up).

A side effect is that the % SOC goes up when capacity goes down, so maybe that explains why some people are reporting reduced vampire drain (which wouldn't be the case if that's the reason).

I've also seen reported 120kWh capacity (supposed to be 131 on G1 Large Battery), with temperatures around freezing. I wonder what next summer we'll see.

Thank you - I was hoping it was a winter temperature thing - and will continue to monitor Something changed for sure but this makes sense

One big thing is that "range on 100% charge" has always been purely "this is what the EPA estimate says you should get in your current configuration". It hasn't had *ANY* basis in actual reality. (The only exception is towing mode, where after it calculates your "efficiency with this specific trailer", it should be based on that trailer's efficiency - but I've found this to be horrendously inaccurate. It has told me with one trailer my efficiency is 1.1 mi/kWh, yet it says I should get >200 miles of range - which would imply a 180kWh+ battery pack.)

Do you see this in the truck or in the app? I've noticed that I'll charge to 75% and the truck and app shows 244 miles in AP. Then the app will adjust over a few hours to show 77-78% @ 244 miles but the truck still shows 75%. I think it's a bug with the app.
