I just got my 2023 R1S back from Jeff Shaw's Collision Craft in Baltimore after 5 months from getting rear-ended in the Ft. McHenry Tunnel and a $29K+ repair.

They did a great job and I HIGHLY recommend their work. My tailgate and lift gate alignment is better than when I originally took delivery from the factory!

Below is the onboard video from the accident to give you an idea of what needed to be repaired.

5 months 😳 back ordered parts im assuming?

Wife’s R1S is in the shop since 3/26. Needs a new passenger side front door after a deer strike. National back order on the door.

Folks must have fleets of vehicles otherwise how do you deal with a 5 month repair time?

Surprisingly, parts were not an issue especially considering one part(rear floor behind 3rd row incl. spare tire compartment) wasn't even in the parts catalog. I read all the posts here regarding parts esp. doors taking months to receive and was really worried since obviously there are many more doors being replaced than rear floors.

It's a long story, but the 5 months was due mostly to my insurance company low-balling the approved amount they would pay and immaturity of Rivian's documented repair procedures; essentially, the shop had to go back and forth with my insurance company providing written and photo evidence of every little thing that $29K+ estimate some of which wasn't going to be possible to provide until DURING the actual repairs, plus the procedure to replace the rear floor was new and unproven, so the shop had to go back and forth with Rivian Service who apparently left out a lot of details which the shop provided to Rivian Service after they completed the job for Rivian Service to update their official procedures.

Thankfully, I had a spare vehicle (2014 Ford Expedition w/ 218K+ miles) that I could use since contrary to what some posters here think, the best rental car coverage ANY insurance company offers is for 30 days, and YES I have that coverage but wasn't worth the hassle AFAIC.

That said, I have a 100+ mile daily r/t commute so having to stop at a gas station to fill up every 4 days (15 mpg, ~400 mile range) SUCKED! #1WP.

So, glad to be back to one-pedal driving and ACC!

I've also had work done by Jeff Shaw's Collision Craft on my R1T and I agree, they do great work. Can't even tell there was ever any damage!

Sorry to hear of your issues but glad it was repaired. I’m hopeful the R1S can get turned around sooner than 3 months but we are preparing for the worst.
