Do you mean stuff like the auto lane change? That's the major improvement but you can also see vehicles behind you on the driver's screen, the lane keep is better as well.

The lane keeping is smoother/more centered around turns in your opinion?
Also, “auto lane change”, meaning you signal and it changes?…or is it like Tesla where it applies the signal and changes lane?

From what I have experienced, lane keeping is a bit smoother and better at keeping centered around corners on the interstate. You can activate the turn sign to initiate the automatic lane change, but no autonomy around the lane change decision, only driver initiated.

I have tested a couple vehicles. The lane centering is a bit better as was said above. The auto lane change....Rivian calls this Lane Change On Command...is fully automatic vs. Gen1 where its assisted. Both work well and my biggest gripe about Gen1 is not the lane change...its the lane centering. I don't feel comfortable using it on curvy roads. I haven't tested gen2 enough to say one way or another.

At this point, that is the only differences between Gen1 and Gen2. As you probably know Gen1 will not get any additional feature updates but will continue to get bug fixes and improvements to existing features.

The Rivian Autonomy Platform (which is what Driver+ is called on Gen2) allows for easier updating of the mapping and other data for the ADAS functions. Rivian will improve this over time but I am not aware of the roadmap currently. IMO the first order of business should be to make it available on more roads/highways.

That is my view as well. It’s usable, barely, if you set the speed 5 mph under the speed limit…and get comfortable with your side mirror being 10 inches from a tractor trailer around curves. Thanks for the input.

Having owned a Gen 2 through multiple SW updates, I can say that the Autonomy Platform has improved quite a bit. Very smooth on turns, lane centering is pretty spot on. No bouncing back and forth on the lines. Lane change is a bit abrupt IMO, as with slowing down when someone enters your lane, but I’m sure that will improve over time. The vehicle still steers uncomfortably close to the right, though. Especially around turns.

I have owned a gen1 one R1s quad and now a gen 2 R1sD and to me here is what has improved:

Adaptive Cruise:
- Less ghost breaking (like almost none)
- quicker to accelerate when the car in from of you turns off
- better at slowing down earlier if there is a stopped car in front of you

Highway assist:
- Lane centering is not only better, but smoother. In the Gen 1 there was a but if a jerk as it moved itself to center - I dont have that in the gen2 - much smoother and more natural
- Changes lanes for you
- They added the camera back inside for future self driving updates
- camera's are way better - again will help with future updates

Above all of this - the adaptive headlights are a GAME CHANGER...I fricken love them!!

just my 2 cents, I wont go into my gripes (there are not many)

It this point it isn't much....my G1 works great for all uses I have had so far.

G2 has ability to change lanes on signal activation if that is something that interests you. When I am in heavier traffic I take over anyway so for me auto lane changing is nothing more than a party trick.

Future may hold more...but time will tell.

And as far as traffic behind me on center screen...not sure what use that has either?
