He is right - I met many people who think that the EV Range is the same as the ICE Range - what you see in a car is close to what you get.The article was for literary entertainment. The author had to find something to write that nobody wrote about yet.
Did you see any place on the EPA sticker saying not to drive above 80 mph or are you in trouble? Here in TX, we have roads with 85 posted speeds. People drive 85+ on many roads. Just did one trip (Austin -> Houston, 185 miles). Went from 100%(323 miles) to 15% (45 miles left, that is really 25 miles). So on full charge, I can do about 210 miles. On 10-80% - 147 miles. With the average DCFC kWh charging price in TX 0.40c, my R1T is 20% more expensive than the F-150 on long trips.
Anyway, EVs are more expensive (depreciation), and not the best for road trips ( trips 500+ miles). They are great as an around-town car, the second car in a family, or a car for enthusiasts.
And just 0.02c for sustainability - let's not talk about this when we own a 7700-pound car.
