WAKE UP PEOPLE. NEW YEAR, DELIVERY YEAR.

Rivian R1T R1S April - May 2022 Delivery Club/Hype Thread 1641067407974

Felt we needed a thread to help pass the time for all those in the April - May 2022 delivery window. “WE AIN’T FIRST, BUT WE AIN’T LAST.” If your Rivian is scheduled for delivery in March or June (or lol 2023) this ain’t the place for you (you’re still welcome as unofficial members).

If you have an April - May 2022 delivery window, this is the place to get excited about your future vehicle. How are you feeling?

This thread is intended to be light (no max packs allowed, seriously). The forums have become a little stale with (some understandable) negativity as of late. There are plenty of threads to post real gripes and grievances, complain about delays, or post about that one very oddly specific feature that you must absolutely have and its a complete travesty RJ didn’t ask you about it first before designing the vehicle. This ain’t it.

This is the place for your Red Canyon-colored-glasses, where we embrace delays because we’ve already waited for years, and we’re only 89 days away.

Many will hate on you, but its only 3-5 Months not 8 months to delivery as per one of your questions.

I changed my paint to Launch Green today. Also decided to put in another reservation for the Max Pack because maybe I'd still rather have Rivian Blue. Also curious what the timeline for that is going to be. Maybe the removable roof will be available. And the winch.

No garage changes besides just cleaning it up. Still wish Rivian put a bigger charger in the truck, but at least it wont charge as slow as the Hummer. Maybe DCFCs will come down in price and it will be a reasonable option soon.

No planned trips yet. If we do make concrete plans it will be something I can do in any other EV. Like the Hummer.

non-vegan leather seats.
Cows can be vegans too. There is still hope.

-How do you plan to fix your tonneau cover after it breaks?
It can't break if you don't use it ?

-Will you show off your LE to strangers who ask, or is that weird?
Absolutely! I'll even throw them the keys and tell them to gun it from a red.

Do we even know our estimated timing anymore? I used to be April / May delivery but since RJ's last email saying to expect delays, who knows now?

There was no mention of delays for Launch Edition reservations. What part of the email are you referencing?

At the risk of getting pointy things thrown at me, I am surviving my now 3+ year wait for my April-May delivery timeline for my wife's R1S by driving my just delivered (ordered January 2021) refreshed Tesla Model X with yoke steering wheel.

My mistake. I read it as they'd be updating the website to show us the new time frame at some point this month. Looks like that new time frame doesn't apply to Launch Edition R1Ts.

No worries. It’s hard to keep track of it all. Just wanted to make sure I hadn’t missed something.

I think the website delivery timing feature will apply to all reservations once it is rolled out. But, I’m hopeful those of us in this thread will have our trucks before that ever happens!

from rivian support:

I do see that you’ve reconfigured the R1T, Adventure Package with the Max Pack to the Large battery pack, we will begin delivering these in June. Switching to the Large battery pack may improve your delivery window; however, we can’t guarantee you’ll receive an earlier timeframe. As previously mentioned, your expected delivery window is based on your preorder date, delivery address, and configuration.

Did this come in an email? When was your reservation date? Did you get the call that was mentioned in the email sent out last week?

I have not received any call from Rivian, only emails and the above was a response to an email I asked about my Aug 2020 reservation. I was given a early 2023 delivery date with a max pack, so I removed it. And given that my rsvp was about 10 months after Rivian started taking reservations, I think late 2022 is now more likely.

I'm a day 1 public reservation holder in SoCal with a LE R1T, yet I've heard nothing from Rivian other than RJ's emails and the one pre-order gift sent to me. I thought we were suppose to hear from a vehicle specialist to finalizing orders months beforehand. Are you all in the same boat as me?

I've done the test drive. Checked in at the Venice Hub. Have a LE Green R1T with Black Int selected. I worry if any other options might unknowingly delay my order. Say the Gear Tunnel Shuttle for instance. What if they don't have that part ready so my reservation isn't being processed? I'd obviously drop that option if I knew it would cause a delay. Would just be nice to hear from someone directly.

I have this fear from a previous bad experience with BMW. I factory ordered a 5 series years back. I had checked the box for the real leather dashboard option that turned out was backordered. No one told me and then I waited 3 months thinking my car was in the production line. Dealer had no real information on it. Only afterwards I find out I wasn't ever scheduled because the factory had no eta on that one specific part. When I eventually was scheduled, factory production was way behind and my initial est. wait of 12 weeks turned into 8 months as I was placed at the back of that current line. 3 months in to that wait, I was told they yet again wouldn't have the leather dashboards and my options were to drop the option or wait infinitely. I waited 8+ months and never even got the option that caused all the delay.

Just could really use a new truck right about now. So it'd be nice to hear from someone at Rivian to at least place an actual order and see more than an est in email.

SE Michigan, reserved mine late 2019. Haven't been invited to an event or a test drive yet. No contact about my truck at all besides the anticipated delivery date.
