Anyone reconsidering their R2 reservation?

Do you still plan to convert your R2 reservation into an order?

I haven't but most likely will because I just picked up a Gen2-R1S tri-motor. I may still get an R2 but that really depends on all sorts of variables about my personal life and family.

I'm waiting until I know for certain it's a 400v system, if it is I'm out. I know it's been eluded to, and seemingly confirmed but I'm keeping my hopes high.

This is a confusing survey. If I’m answering the title of the thread, my response is “No”. If I’m answering the title of the survey, my response is “Yes”.

Does this mean I should respond Maybe?

I drove my X today after a while driving my R1T and I think maybe the wind noise stands out because the truck is so quiet? Felt like I had my windows open and my ear dragging on the pavement lol

I have an R1T and placed a preorder for an R2 for my partner. We decided the Nissan Versa she was driving just wasn’t going to cut it until 2026, so I found a Volvo XC40 recharge with 85k miles (but in immaculate shape for the miles) for just under $25k (to get the $4k used EV credit).

She now loves the Volvo, and isn’t sure she wants to deal with the Rivian unreliability I’ve experienced (we have four as a business, and all have needed several SC stays, 3+ hours away). We love my R1T, and the R2 looks great, but if they don’t have a closer SC at the time our reservation comes, I’m not sure I blame her for not wanting to deal with the likelihood that an early R2 will “need some things.”

We might wait for R3, since she also likes the size of the XC40. It is a fun little car, and underrated IMO, though we haven’t road tripped with it, and I think it’s short range (due in part to poor efficiency) would make for a fairly slow experience, and since we have our R1T it hasn’t really made sense to do so yet.

Also have a Scout rez, waiting to see how things shake out but tentative on canceling and going the Scout route.
Same. I have a day-one reservation for the Scout, but my R2 reservation was made about six months after it was open. So not sure how soon my number will come up. At this point I'm not sure which way to go, it really depends on what Scout can deliver. If they truly can price it under $60K for a reasonably-equipped model I'll probably wait it out and go that route. My EV6 lease is up in July 2026 so I have until then to decide at least.

We don't need two SUVs. The R2 is just a placeholder until the R3 comes around. If my wife gets annoyed enough with her Tesla we might lease the R2 just so we can get a priority spot for the R3.

I'm going to show her the Slate fastback that I configured to see if that interests her, but it's not like Slate is producing any vehicles yet either.

I have a Tesla, and was so happy with my 2014, trying to make a difference in the world. However after downsizing to a Y, the company and service has lost its integrity in my opinion and I am ready to move on after the lousy 2 year warranty is up. I can't wait for the R3, so I like the idea of leasing an R2 and get priority spot for the 3. Thanks

I was all about going back to a Volvo now that they have gone EV, however I found out with a few calls, the EV's are made at present time in China. Wow was I disappointed. Also got more reality from a couple I met last year from Sweden. For me going with Rivian, an American company is important, had Volvo stayed put, that would have been my next car the EX30 is all the car I need. And the Rivian R3 is just right as well.....wish it were coming out sooner. Time to ditch my Tesla

I placed two R2 reservations - I'll take it now if they would release it, panel gaps and misalignment and all. j/k, My early R1 had terrible panel alignment but I would hope by R2, they know how to do it better...we'll see

Because I was able to get an R1S at pre-order voucher pricing, buying an R2 which would likely be a similar price didn't make sense, so I canceled my preorder. Otherwise, I would've 100% kept it.

Who knows, lets see what trade value looks like in 18+ months, when R2 is really available and see if i want to "downgrade" in size.

The only reason I haven't requested a refund is that someone @ Rivian told me directly that they haven't 100% scrapped the fold-flat front seats for the production model. We've basically become a single-issue-buyer since we're onboard w/everything else (for better or for worse) the R2 has to offer at this point save for that one item. Once Rivian officially confirms this feature has been removed for the production R2 we'll refund as it doesn't offer the biggest feature that would separate that vehicle from the Model Y for our use. I know there's lots of differences but that was the one revolutionary idea that caused us to want one.
The lead designer, who i met when the R2/R3x came to Boston, confirmed the removed this feature due to European and Canadian regulations, but who knows until its officially announced
