HI there folks,
yesterday washing my R1T I found a crack in the windshield down in the bottom corner by the VIN number. The crack grew from a small impact point outward to both the bottom and side of the glass. So it will need replaced.
Anyone have experience with replacing a windshield? Here are my options.
Has anyone tried #3? It is the fastest route and they are trusted in replacing glass. how much of an issue is it with the safety systems, camera, etc? I need to ask Rivian service but I am pretty sure recalibration can't be done with a mobile appointment.
I am leaning towards number #1 as I have to get them to recalibrate anyway and it will be done right. in the meantime I will seal the crack so it stays waterproof..

- Have Rivian do the replacement. The camera/sensors would need to be calibrated too. They can't do this until Jan 4th. I setup an appointment, though I am hoping for a faster option
- Have RCCC (Rivian certified collision center) do the swap. There is one here in the Portland area. Sounds like they would take a few weeks to get to it. And they confirmed they can't do the recalibration and it would have to be sent to Rivian for that. though they would have that handled while they had it. Being that I can't get an appointment till Jan, I don't see how this is faster than having rivian replace it.
- Have safelite do the replacement. They can do this the fastest, like this weekend to maybe early next week. But they confirmed they can't do the recalibration for rivan and so I still need a rivian appointment. They make you acknowledge, like with a waiver, that since they can't recalibrate the safety systems, they might not work.
