Am I crazy in either of these 2 ways...
I placed my order last month and I'm in no hurry...planning to drive my 2010 4runner until I get a pickup, whether that's a Rivian or whether I bail and get something else. But I'd like to have it by the end of 2022. Am I crazy to think that's plausible? I ordered an adventure package, Max pack, forest green.
So do y'all think I'll get that in 2022? Even if it were a few months into 2023, I'd probably stick with the order. Past 8/23 and I'd probably bail.

Second...
This will be my long trips into the mountains/desert truck from SW Colorado when I move there. I plan to get a travel trailer that would probably weigh 2000 lbs, so nothing gigantic. I'll have hills to climb but also descend. But with that kind of towing and the standard spread of long weekend camping gear, is my 400 miles going to be more like 250? Below that would likely be an issue. My hope is to charge when I have to stop to eat, and despite my voluminous appetite, that's only about once every 4 hours!

Just some musing. If it's not going to be a Rivian, it would probably be an ICE Ranger or a Colorado, but really hoping the Rivian will suit ALL of my needs, especially given the high price tag.

Based on information that is currently available, I think its unwise to expect to get a preorder made after 9/31/21 in 2022. Not impossible, but I wouldn't plan on it. First half of 2023 is much more likely.

Bright side, you should be getting a delivery estimate in the next 31 days that will give you an idea of what to expect.

I'll post back to this thread what they send me, if indeed I do get an estimate anytime soon.

Everyone with a current preorder is supposed to get a delivery estimate by the end of the year, according to the email that they sent to LE reservation holders.

In the IPO filing they said that they expected to clear the pre-orders they had accumulated thus far by the end of 2023. By now I am sure they are well into 2024 for orders being placed today. The start of production has been pushed back several times already. I think it is wise to expect that the ramp up will take longer than they are expecting too.

So I would expect late 2023 (unless a bunch of people in front of you bail) and more realistically sometime in 2024 for an order made last month.

almost 3 years out...kind of a hilarious concept when buying, you know, a car.

I don't recall seeing anything about delivery timing for Max Packs.

I believe they just changed the year and not the wording, from 2022 to 2023. Later on they stated that they plan to have production ramped up to full capacity by the end of 2023.

with 65k factory capacity and only 55k preorders (at the time they preordered), 2023 is very likely. just depends how fast they ramp up initially.

I hope you are right and they ramp up much faster than this but my expectation after reading the filing was that the ramp would look something like this:

1K in 2021
15K in 2022
15K in Q1+Q2 2023
10K in Q3 2023
15K in Q4 2023
16K in Q1 2024

That puts full production rate and the 55K pre-order completion milestones in Q4 2023

The part that's hard to reconcile is the only 15k in 2022. I'm definitely not even close to the first 15k of preorders, but I have a July-Sep 2022 delivery date for my R1S LE right now.

lol - I placed my preorder on 9-24-21! Guess I’ll have a merry Christmas one year from now, assuming human civilization continues in its current form.
