Yes I’m also in CA. According to AAA the national average in the US is $3.19. That’s also about 1/3 of what gas used to cost when I lived in London 22 years ago. It’s great to be an oil company here…

It seemed to me that the most challenging thing in this topic is to choose the car itself and have a good credit history. I'd rather see ICE vehicles taxed at a higher rate than any weird formula to derive tax credits for EVs. Slap a 10% tax on every ICE vehicle and you'd be pushing a lot of people towards avoiding it.

Imagine being able to pass a carbon tax. The novelty. ?

In all seriousness, the federal government hasn't had the condones to even tie the current gas tax to inflation and it hasn't changed since the early 90s. That's part of the reason our infrastructure is struggling to be maintained, and responsible States have much high fuel prices. They add on a lot of local State gas tax. Still not enough generally though.

Bummer. Looks like most rivians will be out based on MSRP and/or buyer income. Oh well. Still dont see why it would be worth $4500 to the house for union workers besides pandering for votes.
