Alexa to open the garage

So I got the latest update and was able to add my garage doors. I would like to simply use Alexa to activate the garage door vs. a few screen taps. Any ideas?? I am not a native Alexa user.

This works, but it was a 2 hour project to get it configured correctly......I can open three garages and a gate with Alexa...Alexa Open Lexus Garage, Alexa Open Supra Garage, Alexa Open Rivian Garage!! Pretty cool.......thanks to the OP who figured it out with MyQ garage equipped systems.....

Yes, for safety, Alexa doesn't natively let you open garage doors as someone could scream through a window to open the garage. But as @Mark_AZR1T stated there are workarounds ... I used to have a command "Alexa, open sesame!" and like "magic" my garage door would open! LOL.

Yeah I was bummed to find out there was no easy way to do this. I really miss the geofencing stuff from Tesla. Having to tap the screen is lame and you should be able to tell Alexa to do it if it knows you're in your driveway in your truck telling it to open the garage door.

Yes! It "just worked" for me in the Rivian, have been using it for years. Alexa does ask for a pin to open the garage door (don't know if that is required, set it up too long ago).

"What's your voice code for right garage door opener"

"Alexa close right garage door"
"Closing hang on... The right garage door is closed"

Just to be clear, you have a smart garage door opener device. Like the Mross Duffey talked about. Right? I was hoping to do it simply using the R1T UI. I have it set up so I can push the garage button in my R1T. Was hoping for voice command or maybe a geofence or something native in the rivian.

I do have the Meross garage door attached to the garage door opener and connected to my home wifi network. I have the Alexa skill enabled for this, and since my Alexa account is linked in the truck it is all working.

Sorry for the confusion. Not sure how you’d do it without the Meross.

The plus side is that I can ask any Alexa or Sonos device in my house to open or close the garage door as well.

I missed the geofencing on my Tesla Model S. Didn't have to do anything. Along with the ride heights as well. Admittedly you don't need it as much on a truck, but it was nice to be able to set the height for different areas.
