I am seeing the same thing. I disabled the automations and I’ll see if it gets fixed in a future update. I am guessing that the dual mode (regular or gauges) screen doesn’t allow a way to overlay the camera view and then return to the view. Maybe they’ll even enable an option for camera on when close proximity detected or similar.

I had mixed feeling about the automation as it was since poor connectivity near my home could cause an occasional misfire and I wasn’t keen on the audio volume lowering for an Alexa “Okay!” On the positive side, I did like the functionality and invariably she’d say “Okay” as if in agreement with some statement when I had at least one passenger in the car. Of course that would be followed by, “She agrees!” or, “See, Alexa is on MY side.” :D

Hello,

Just wanted to share one trick (not sure if someone already mentioned this, I did not find it):

Use Case:
When I reach my garage (or any particular location), I want the main display to switch to a Camera view. When I leave this location I want to turn the camera off.

Execution:
You can set up a routine in the Alexa app (on the phone) to execute particular actions (like "turn on camera") based on location (either arrival or departure). You need to select target "YOUR NAME Rivian Electric Adventure Vehicle"

Works well for me, now when I get to my home Rivian turn on the camera view, but when I leave - it turns it off.

I found a few other commands like "switch to navigation screen", etc.). Not a fan of Alexa, but it seems helpful sometimes.
Rivian just needs to do an update to where if you're driving 5mph or slower, the cameras automatically turn on. Obviously, if you don't want this feature, you can turn it off. But this would make life a lot easier.

Or they can do as BMW - you can set a GEO location where to turn the camera on. What BMW does correct as well, is when you drive slow (like you mentioned 5mph) and one of the proximity sensors is triggered, the camera is turned on as well.

No need to reinvent the wheel - just copy what others do well :)

Yes! They need to do this.

agree!! this feature would also work great when you are parking into spots that have high risk of curbing your wheels.

Is there a way to let Rivian know they broke something with the update? other than the regular channels?

This is probably a very edge case. Not sure if many people even know about Alexa routines

Glad I found this thread. Setting up an Alexa routine for my cameras to turn on when I arrive home. Just one question --- which of you asked for this feature? ?

Do the routines work for you? I recall I lost functionality a while back and never bothered again.
The "automatically turn on cameras when I got close to home" did work for me last night. I set it to turn them on automatically at other places, as well (parking lots for sites I usually go to). Will test further with those.

No, I didn't try setting up the cough-fart one. ?
