Yes there are straps that hold the panels down when folded open all the way. I’ve driven around like this and have no concerns.
Have 396,000 miles on my 2 Ridgelines with Lomax rigid covers with no issues...we will see if this one on the R1T can go the distance...

I'm interested in the Matte finish. On your ridgelines did you have the matte finish and can you comment on its durability? It appears the urethane finish is more durable, but I much prefer the looks on the matte.

THANK YOU!

Yes, both my Lomax covers on the 2 Ridgelines were matte finish. In all that time and miles, I don't recall ANY degradation. They looked like the day I took them out of the box and installed them when I sold the Ridgelines. (Well actually I wrecked the first Ridgeline but it went to the wrecking yard with a very nice Lomax over the bed).

I would probably have another Lomax rigid on this R1T but I wanted to try carbon fiber on the top. The bottom is covered in carbon fiber so it is covered top to bottom with carbon fiber.

Awesome. 100% made up my mind. Thought I was going to hold out for the manual tonneau, but the fact that they hadn't shipped mine yet, and for my use case the lomax makes way more sense (flipped vs. pull out all the sections). Also, the durability lomax wins hands down.

I'm ordering the matte today!

Buyer beware I purchased the profession model... it's a nice cover, but the spare tire lid will not go vertical. I am disappointed...

Just installed mine yesterday. Took about 20 min. Very nice over and seems really snug.

It’s off by just a small amount. I’m also a bit disappointed, but it seems necessary to make the rails that wide for a sturdy hold on the cover? It’s good enough for getting items from the compartment, but I don’t have a spare tire so will have to see if that becomes an issue when getting one.

Agreed the rail is necessary, but i may break out jigsaw dremmel and a file.
I have the spare and I think it's going to be a beast to get out. The angle makes it awkward. You can't roll it.. sliding is the way. I pray I never need the spare.

I talked with the Agricover folks about my carbon fiber cover and the rails on my T. The rails do impinge on the opening of the spare tire cover. I have already tried removing the tire from that well with my new Lomax cover. First, my T is an early one with the spare tire kit being the first generation. I have to 20" wheels on mine and with the tire it weighs 86 pounds. (In 2 months, I will be 80 years old). I removed the tire and wheel with it in place and it might be a little easier if the cover would swing up 90 degrees. So, if you remove the tire jack and kit along with the center threaded rod, I can pull out the spare.

Now, according to Agricover, you may machine off 1/8 of an inch on each side with no harm to the operation of the cover. I may pull off the rails and run them to a machine shop and have the 1/8 inch removed from each side. (On the other hand, I may not. I don't have flats that often and since I have experienced removing the tire, I may not have the rails trimmed.

I've had the Lomax on my R1T for about two months. I love it. Easy to use and sturdy. In the one rain storm we had over Labor Day (it is the dry season in California) where we got over an inch of rain in about 24 hours, there were only a few drops that got into the bed. same thing when I wash the truck. So I figure it's about 99% waterproof. We have several black Rubbermaid tubs we bought a few years ago from Costco, and they fit perfect.

I love having all that locking space for things when on road trips. So much so that I hardly ever use the frunk.

For about 1/2 the price of the Rivian Manual cover, this one is hard to beat.

Has anyone encountered the issues where you (I assume) aren't able to open the Lomax with the Rivian (or most?) cargo crossbars in place over the bed? I wish I thought of that before I pulled the trigger.

Quick update on this cover: I did a 5-wheel rotation about 1.5 weeks ago and the spare tire can be removed with the cover on (as it hits the rails). Two IMPORTANT words of advice to keep from scratching your spare wheel:
  1. Remove the threaded bolt that tightens the wheel into the truck (I used packed a 4" crescent wrench into the toolkit for this purpose) before moving the wheel; and
  2. I put a towel down on the bed of the truck as I slid the wheel out of and back into the well

Thank you very much for those tips. I am planning to get one of the Lomax Tonneau Covers.

Do you guys close the tailgate first, then the Lomax cover, or vice versa?

If I close the cover first then the tailgate, it rubs the weatherstripping back a bit in the corners and I'm concerned it will tear or get damaged over time. Maybe I have my rails mounted too low but that's the only way to get a good seal on my T.

If I close the tailgate first and try to drop the cover on, the latches don't want to retract by themselves without significant force. I have to bang it down with my fist and I'm concerned about wearing the plastic latches over time. Maybe some grease would help.

Also when you drop the tailgate with the button, does it actually drop or does your weatherstripping keep it in place like mine does? I kinda miss the auto drop. If I don't manually pull the tailgate open the latches re-engage after a few seconds and I find myself having to hit the button a second time. Thanks in advance!
