Hey, all, I was curious if anyone had come up with an effective solution to protect rear door panels from excited dogs.

In most vehicles, I’ve been able to get any aftermarket Amazon ones to work, but there seems to be something unique about the Rivian windows/door panels and the little plastic flaps that usually insert in through the window gap get blocked and won’t go in.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions for this and any other dog protection accessories. I’ve got a bunch of big dogs.

Following. I need the same thing. I have 2 idiots awesome dogs who like to scratch up my door panels trying to get their heads out the window.
I haven't found a good solution yet. Currently I've just been putting rubber boots on the front feet of my biggest offender (6 month Bernese puppy), and that has definitely prevented damage, but is also a major hassle to put on/off every time we get in or out of the vehicle.

Got any other cool pet stuff/solutions you want to share? I can send my full setup at some point, but basically it's:

• XL SUV generic cover (whatever brand fits the R1S perfectly)
• Full size japanese style mattress
• Waterproof/faux fur pet blanket on top that catches/collects a lot of their fur and is the liquid protection layer
• Barrier between front seats and the back
• Screen protectors on all screens

I own these and they’re great. Very high quality - https://www.canvasback.com/r1t-door-covers.html
I've seen those, but they seem to just use the same technique as all the generic ones, no? A little plastic flap that's supposed to tuck down into the window frame/slot?

If so, how'd you get that to work....? I could not get the flap to go into the frame for the life of me -- there seems to be something blocking it. I've had no trouble on Tesla Model Y, F-150, etc.

We have some straps that clip into the seatbelt receivers in the back seat and clip to the dogs harnesses, to help keep them from moving around too much, and from flying through the windshield if we were to ever get in a crash. My younger dog loves car rides, but also loves to just wander around all over the car if allowed to do so. She gets under the seat cover, down in the foot well, and tries to squeeze her way up into the front over the center console if she's not buckled in.

Well worth the investment, but we need to get some higher quality ones, since the cheap ones we got don't have enough friction to stay at the length we set if the dogs decide to pull hard against them.

Definitely -- I've got a few restraint solutions but do need to get that part of my build better together here.

I saw some others that were very similar that warned not to operate the windows once it was installed. Is it the same with these, or can you roll the windows up/down while they're installed?
I will install them and take pics for you and OP tomorrow

I use the hammock style seat cover for the dogs partly because it has the side (door) protection. Obviously not as convenient if you use your backseat for other stuff. My only passengers are 4 legged idiots friends.
