After a year Rivian still can't drive onto my property due to maps / navigation issue

Chances are the are some incorrect settings applied around you, or the driveway is just unique enough that it needs a little kajiggering.

Yes,the upper home is the correct one. The lower is an ADU.

OK, so OSM actually looked like it was set up correctly. But just in case I edited the driveway in an attempt to force it to recalculate.

That being said, I think I heard that Rivian is now using Google for search results, and then using Mapbox for navigation. So I double checked your home on Google and saw that the ADU had your home address, and your main home had some entirely different address. So I submitted an address correction form on Google Maps just to be safe.

Also, even though it shouldn't be the issue, I did see that Google didn't mark your driveway as a road (although the neighbor's driveway is already a valid road). So I submitted a missing road on Google as well.

It may take up to 30 days for the updates to flow through into your Rivian, but hopefully less time if Google was the issue.

Hey, a big thank you. Yes Google can't seem to find my driveway up past the ADU and on to our house above. I didn't realize that they had the addresses for this house and the ADU confused.

Yes, Garmin has no problem, whatsoever, finding my driveway and arriving at my house. Not so with Rivian navigation or Google. They both use the neighbors' driveways on either side of mine and arrive at a church or a heavily forested driveway. Both their driveways are fenced and lined with trees and shrubs.

Trying to correct any road or trail through Google Maps is the most frustrating process I've ever dealt with.

No, I believe the problem starts with Google Street View which shows a 5-year-old picture of the driveway with a closed gate across the driveway that doesn't exist today. In fact, Google has you turning the opposite way into Alice Bay across the road. Our house numbers are plainly displayed on the fence next to our active driveway along with the large mailbox with the house number posted there as well.

You are correct, that if the driver reads the house number next to the driveway or on the mailbox, they are easy to observe.

I have been going back and forth with Google for over a year with their directions to my garage where I park my R1T. I even think Google sent out one of their mapping cars to check out my faults with their mapping. Currently to arrive at my garage you must traverse either adjacent neighbors driveways and cross fences and go through foest to arrive at my garage. They refuse to use Google Earth which plainly shows the driveway that their directions refuse to acknowledge.

That's ok. My address pops up into a neighbor's property 2 doors down. This is rural too, so two doors down is a ways....

Yep, Rivian has been here twice. Each time I had to call and tell them they are on the wrong driveway and to turn around and find the correct driveway. Both times they said the Rivian app on the phone is not very accurate.

Where we live this has been happening for over 10 years. The direction the maps (Apple, Google, Waze) is always incorrect. If someone that hasn't been to our property will call us and say they are lost. When we talk to a live person to come out to service something, we always say "Don't follow the GPS directions <map program> tells you. It will tell you to go down <street> which isn't a through street and is private property".

We don't mind people not knowing how to get to our house....the people we want to come already know.

We have had 3 mobile appointments from Rivian and the tech used his brains and figured it out how to get here without calling.

LOL, thanks for the laugh. Garmin mapping and routing data is many times dangerously wrong. So much so that in my circle of outdoor enthusiasts we trade examples of stupid things Garmin tells us to do. Look at what it tells you but understand its limitations, use your judgement, and don't be afraid to say no.

Looks like you are sorted. My dad never had issues finding a location using a paper map. I always am in awe of that.
