I'm a new R1T owner seeking advice on three after-market products (because the Rivian Adventure Gear is so darned expensive).
Specifically: What products/brands/models are best, where to get them and how much to expect to pay for one of good quality.

1. Tonneau cover (I'm inclined toward a hard or at least lockable cover and probably manual because I've hear that the automated ones are prone to malfunction).

2. Protective mat for the bed (most likely rubber ... and are there any that also include protection for the sides)

3. Tailgate pad (the type that slings over the tailgate and can be used to attach bicycles; am open to any other bike solutions, but like the idea of something relatively expensive that allows me to secure up to four bikes).

I would be grateful for any insights into all or any of these!

Thanks,
Ken

I have the Weathertech Tri Fold one. I didn't want to have to slide pieces in and out to use it. I can quickly flip it open or remove it. It is supposed to fit in the gear tunnel but I just take it totally of and leave it in the garage when needed or just lay it to the side in the truck bed.

It also is cheaper than Interrobang and while cost wasn't a concern, the savings will buy me at least 2 tires. The quick to flip open aspect is why I went with it. Very quick to pop it open and close it. I don't have to pull out a piece at a time, put it somewhere, and replace it. Knowing what I know now after using it, I'd still buy it again. The convenience of how easy it is to open and close trumps moving pieces in and out for me.

I've been very happy with it but I bought a topper and waiting for it to ship. If you happen to be interested in it, let me know and I'll make you a good deal on it.

As for bed mats, I have tried a few.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BRZXDWWV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

They both worked well. I will be selling the 2nd (BestEVMod) one. It is actually the more heavy duty of the too but with my plans for the bed, I may just use the Snowqueen one or none at all.

I also got a little mat to protect the tailgate as neither of these protect it when down. I got the one linked below. I just slide it under my main bed mat and pull it out as needed. It has saved my tailgate a lot.

If interested in the tonneau cover and bed mat, let me know and I'll make you a package deal. Neither are heavily used as I've only had my truck 5 months now.

I highly recommend the Rivian pad. I tried a couple, older Chevy 1500 and a newer Tacoma pad, then splurged and got the Rivian one. It has the best paint protection, moves the least, and has the right padding in the right place to protect your bike and your truck.

Thanks for all this information, y'all. I'm hoping to gather more info before making decisions on the Tournaee and the tailgate pad,

I've gone ahead and ordered what looked like the best bet for a bed pad off of Amazon ("BestEvMod for Rivian R1T Truck Bed Mat"). It was priced at $93. The Amazon reviews were good, but I'll report on it on this thread after I install it.

I didn't find anything on the Home Depot site less than $99, so I guess prices have risen significantly over four years!

Don't know about tonneau covers.

For tailgate pad, get the Rivian one. Best option hands down. It's such an amazing thing to have a bespoke tailgate pad made and fitted for your particular truck. No brainier.

For bed mat/cover, this commercial floor mat from home Depot fits the width perfectly and has a little extra length to cover to protect the front and rear ends of the bed. It's soft enough to sit on and durable enough to handle hard use. And it's cheap: https://www.homedepot.com/p/306932662

For bike tailgate pad, I concur with the others who say to get the Rivian one. For $200, it's made very well, has good coverage/protection, and shows the lightbar/brakes. https://rivian.com/gear-shop/p/rivian-tailgate-pad

For a bed mat, I'd recommending getting one that has a crease for the rear tire storage door. I got the BestEVMod one and it's been great. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BRZXDWWV

For something to protect the tailgate while it's down (sliding things into the bed), I got a rubber mat from Versatex - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D38CPWW it fits perfectly, and you can just slide it under the bed liner normally, it's invisible and ready to deploy instantly.

Like a couple of people above I have the EvMod one for bed liner.

I have been happy with that one, it's heavy enough that the wind doesn't blow it around. It provides some grip to keep things from sliding but is not so grippy that you can't slide things in with a good push. The fit is good for the bed, fully covers the floor.

I also have a 4 x 6 foot exterior type carpet mat I got from Home Depot that was inexpensive and I use it when I haul something that would really scratch up the rubber mat or I want some protection for the tail gate. I just lay it over the EvMod mat. It's a heavy enough carpet mat that the wind doesn't affect it. And when hauling mulch I'll throw a tarp down to keep the mulch from staining the truck bed.

I have the BestEVMod bed mat. I bought it to protect the bed floor because the truck is a lease, and I think it also provides a small amount of sound deadening.

But it is 100% friction and it’s hard to slide heavier objects in and out. During a move I found an extra plastic chair pad used under a rolling office chair that we didn’t need in the home. I have used it in the truck bed and it’s been a helpful addition, since it’s heavy duty but lightweight, and makes it very easy to slide bags of fertilizer and heavy boxes in and out of the truck bed. At 67, I’m always looking for ways to work smarter.

Good morning, fellow Rivianists. With your help, I've decided on (and purchased) two of the items I asked about to begin this thread, but I still have questions about the tounneau covers. One of those questions is how the tracks for covers were changed in 2025 models and how this might affect my options (given that I have a '25). My other question is below the research I did on prices, which is at the bottom of this comment.
  • The BestEVMod cover works beautifully. Per advice from @ElGuano , I also bought the Versatex mat to protect the door, although I haven't received it yet.
  • @TheRiviAnswer and others suggested the Rivian tailgate cover. After trying out a couple of the better known third-party brands at REI, I found the argument that the small amount of money for one that actually fits to Rivian's lights, latches, etc. compelling, and have ordered it from Rivian.
Then, there's the manual tounneau cover. As best I can tell, there are five manufacturers with hard covers tailor-made for the R1T. I thought I should share my research with you all:
  1. Rivian $1,800 inc. storage bag
  2. Interrobang (which seems like a great company, BTW) $1,399 without bag, $1,649 with storage bag
  3. Tail Lidz, $1,000, no bag
  4. Lomax, four variants, ranging from $1,115 to $2,228.
  5. Weathertech, $1,035
Based on the comments above, my impression is that you get what you pay for (although I'm a bit confused by all the Lomax options). As always, any observations/experiences would be appreciated!
