I tried to research this issue, but couldn’t find it. Maybe my keyword searching needs some work, or maybe few (or none?) have experienced this. For some reason, my steering wheel will no longer adjust beyond a few positions in the up/down and in/out movements when using the left and right scroll wheels. I know the steering wheel can come towards me more, as I’ve noticed this in the past and it was corrected (following a soft reset). Now, though, I have only 3-4 scroll “positions” in the up/down/in/out motion when adjusting, even after a soft reset.

Has anyone experienced this as of yet? It’s quite annoying as I like having the wheel closer during long drives… but I don’t want to jam my 6’2” frame into the pedals by adjusting the seat to compensate for the lack of out adjustment on the steering wheel!

I'm having this exact issue along with a rubbing sound when telescoping in and out. At one point I was able to fix it by moving the wheel in and then up and down and all of a sudden I had full range of motion back. I have a ticket in for a few weeks from now to have it fixed. I assume it's a bad mechanism or something is pinched and that they will be replacing the entire steering column.

Here’s a video showing the number of “motions” for in/out (6 positions) and up/down (2.5-3 positions)

Oooooooomg so glad to hear it’s not just me. I will open a ticket as well then and upload the video I just created (and uploaded to my previous comment for reference as well). As you can hear, I too have a rubbing sound!

I think I read about people having similar issues in another thread but I don't recall which one or how I found it. I think they may have gotten a bad batch of telescoping mechanisms from the supplier.

Interesting. I’ll try searching for “telescoping” or something to see how things worked out for others. Thanks for letting me know!

I took delivery of my R1s last week and have a similar issue. The steering adjusts in and out exactly how it should, but there is only 1 position adjustment of the steering vertically. Clearly some thing is defective. Please post with updates on this issue. I will also submit a service request

I also had the same issue with the rubbing sound a couple of months ago. When I brought it to the service center they said its due to a piece of foam at the bottom of the steering column. They just heated it up and pushed it back, and it fixed it.

Definitely put a ticket for it. I had an issue with mine with a limited range. They replaced the unit, I think. Also, with the noises, I've gone into the SC to resolve it. I just left the SC for this reason.

I just left the SC with the same issue. They did not replace the mechanism for mine, as they told me that this is a software issue. The gist of it is that a software update caused some models to misbehave and it is being addressed with a future update. This actually makes sense based on the way it behaves.
