My gen 2 R1t, delivered March 20th has been perfect. No body or performance issues. Everything works correctly. Even the tonneau cover works. The build quality is far better than my three Teslas, ( an S and two X's). This was delivered by the Eastvale store in California
They won't all be perfect, and they won't all be bad. My refreshed S long range was delivered with a driver's door that wouldn't open without hitting the fender, yet they still delivered it to my door. The rear hatch was so misaligend that I could fit my thumb through the gap. There was so much distortion in the rear window, it was like looking through a fun house mirror. Since I was in Texas, I had to prepay for delivery and no chance to drive it before I paid.

By comparison, my S Plaid was, and still has been, virtually flawless. It looked like it was put together like a Swiss watch. 3 years later, absolutely no issues. Hard to believe they came from the same factory. It was put together better than my Rivian and any Rivian I've seen so far, either Gen 1 or 2.

Everyone gets lucky occasionally. I'd prefer not to rely on it, but I'll take it when I can.

My experience is the same as yours. Zero quality issues. I love driving this truck. Can a man have a crush on a truck?

OP, it all comes down to how you titled this thread. Many of us have seen the growing pains of a startup company and like it or not you do accept that with a new company or hell look at older companies like Ford and Toyota lately.

However To state not impressed in an owners forum with some of the most impressive vehicle performance stats as a total package is going to circle the sharks. If the title was Rivian fix my broken delivery the responses would be much different.

Like “Rivian fix my broken delivery”

or “Rivian, please address all my issues found post delivery”

???

Because the former doesn’t make sense since the delivery process wasn’t technically broken, and the latter would likely illicit the same responses from the same users.

OP - sorry you cant win. Too many keyboard warriors on this forum who think that since they are happy to spend $100k on a product and get shit that everyone else should be to. Hopefully you get sooner rather than later service and get your issues fixed in one visit - which is far from guaranteed! Great truck overall with just a few too many major issues on too many vehicles.

So the the many people who didn’t get “shit” for their money are “keyboard warriors” if they disagree with a hysterical overreaction of someone who claims they did?

Fun fact, the keyboard I warrior with the most doesn't even have any letters on it.

Day 15 with my R1S Tri-max and still the only problem has been the rear doors being hard to shut.

Most vehicle heat pumps I have experience with are loud. Our Blazer EV has a loud heat pump as well.
huh. My MY 23 (Snerk. Model Y ‘23) Heat pump is very loud when it’s hurrying to desired temp while plugged in at home but otherwise it’s very mild.

I hope Rivian is able to work these and the R2 issues out quickly. I’m damn sure I’m not buying another Tesla but when the time comes, I hope Rivian is solid. My 3 was pretty good but noisy. My Y Is better. Hubby’s R1T gen 1 is quiet. Possibly its best feature. Worst is body panel damage repair. I desperately hope the R2 is more of a typical panel design

The biggest issue Rivian faces is communication.
IMO the biggest issue, by far, is service -- both the capacity for providing service and the quality of service.

Our R1S had numerous issues at pickup. They weren't enough to refuse delivery, and we expected some minor things -- in our experience every new vehicle, no matter the price, has some minor issues when new. But most car companies will fix those things quickly.

It took 3.5 months (SF Bay Area) to get a Rivian service appointment. We were told the vehicle would be in the shop for a couple weeks; it ended up being almost a month. Some things weren't fixed and the service center also caused some damage that now needs to be fixed. The first available follow-up appointment was over 3 months later. In other words, assuming the vehicle will be in the shop for another 2-3 weeks, and everything gets fixed, it will have been ~8 months after purchase to get the initial issues with the vehicle fixed.

I don't (yet) expect Rivian to have the service capacity of Ford, Kia, etc. (Even for EVs, these companies can generally get you in for service within a week and finish the service in a day.) But Rivian's current service capacity/quality is unacceptable, especially for a vehicle at this price.

I don’t think that is correct. You can’t even tell the heat pump is on in a Kia. No sound at all from inside the cabin. Outside, it’s way quieter than an ac on an ICE car.

100%. I have no idea what Rivian did to make it so loud. I guess the compressor they chose has this special "feature". I had many cars, and none of them was so loud inside from heating/cooling compressor.

everyone ONLY lamenting about service caz rivan hasn't scaled on the likes of well-established ICE manufactures - keeping drinking that koolaid.

The sheer amount of Rivian loaners handed EVERY day across ALL enterprise locations is astonishing.
That is NOT a SC problem, rather QC and design flaws problem.

PS: Let this fact sink-in before you jump the gun keyword warrior

Do you have any data to back up this assertion?

I do not think anybody has verifiable data for this.

As many on this forum know, I am very vocal about SC issues. That said, my personal experience was very good, and while the application showed 2-3 months waiting time, I just go to SC (I live nearby) and get it scheduled when I needed.

I also saw that Dallas SC has an on-spot event this weekend, and they will replace 12V and perform recalls. No scheduling needed. I think it is a VERY WELCOME development.

As for QC - I had about 6 SC visits (+ a couple of mobile for speaker, rattling, etc).

- 2 HVAC issues
- Knocking when acc/decc (Drive unit, half shaft, hubs replaced),
- Extensive brake pad wear (caliper, rotor and pad replaced),
- Front leaking shocks replaced.

I think that MANY owners have a knocking issue, but most (like my wife) did not even notice it. Is it a QC or design flaw? I do not know, but a 2-year-old truck should not have these issues.
All problems were fixed 100%, and the truck is like new now.

Rivian definitely has a "quality expectation" problem - we expect it to be almost perfect for 100k. But it can not be, they just do not have enough stats to see what is not working well and replace it (like they need a new half shaft version).

The truck is a very special product with almost no competition right now...
