I did not know that was a thing...and now I kinda want to try one. :p
The answer to a question in a planning meeting should never be “let’s just grind it all up and form it into a hot dog shape so we can sell it next to the Big Bites”

Only a few locations so far and all appear to be a very underwhelming 90 kW but it's nice to see a company like 7 Eleven with plans to scale. If they would only invest in faster chargers. Installing anything less than 150 kW chargers seems extremely short sighted at this point.

90 kw is not that bad, I have seen higher than rated on several 150 chargers frequently going into the high 170 range. The 7Charge chargers are not cheap, I see one in Long Beach, CA it is 59 cents a kw, one in Orangeville, CA is 49 Cents.

Would not be a first choice for me but certainly would be good options in a pinch. I may drive to the one in Long Beach, not that far from me, just to see what the charge rate will be when I get the battery down under 40%.

For sure 90 is better than say 50 kW. Pricing here in DFW area is also high at $0.55/kWh but, at this point, any option is a good option when on a road trip.

I didn't think anyone hung around a 7-Eleven long enough to charge up, even at 350kwh.

I had some time today so drove to the 7Charge station at 7-Eleven in Long Beach. A couple of things to note. On the app it says 2 chargers, it is a single box with a CHAdeMO and a CCS so really only 1 charger.

The stalls are clearly marked for EV charging only and we’re empty when I pulled in but 5 different people parked in the 1 beside me when they went in the store while I was charging even though there were other available spots, could be an issue but the good news there is a run into 7-11 is usually pretty quick so should not be a lot of waiting if other locations are like this.

The APP worked fine, found the charger, plugged into the truck, started charging from the app, started right up.

I looked for 7Charge in the navigation so it could pre-condition, it is not there so I arrived without pre-conditioning. Went from 47% to 81%, 47.73 kw (~ 107 miles) in 35 minutes. Total cost was 28.16, 59 cents a kw, not cheap but in a pinch it works.

Here is the charge curve, was climbing as it warmed up and maxed out at 89 kw. I think if I had less charge it would have hit 90% and stayed there until around 70% where it started slowing down.

The location closest to me in Dallas has 2 units (stations as they are labeled in their app), one with 1 CCS + 1 CHAdeMO connectors and one with 2 CCS connectors. I'm assuming if both CCS connectors are in use that they split the 90 kW. I need to stop by and check it out at some point. Might just have to do that as a test for my first DCFC.

The EA stations that have 2 cables you can only use 1 at a time. I have not really understood the value other than you have a foot or 2 more reach and if one is somehow compromised you can use the other.
