RedTiger chose me as a beta tester and send me this camera free of charge in exchange for my honest review. I am allowed to keep the camera for my personal use and will not receive any compensation for my review.

The RedTiger F17 Elite camera kit is a three channel dash camera kit. It has WIFI direct to connect to the “Redtiger Cam” app which is available for both IOS and Android. I am using the IOS app on an iPhone 16 Pro for my review. The camera does not have cellular connectivity so there are no subscriptions to pay. You pay for the camera only.

The main unit has a 4k (8mp) forward facing camera and a 2.5k (4mp) rear camera. The interior camera is 1080p built into the color touch screen along with the forward facing camera. Both forward facing and interior cameras are full adjustable up, down and side to side so you can pretty much mount the camera/touchscreen wherever you want. The rear camera is adjustable up and down.

RedTiger markets this camera as full all around protection for daily driving, rideshare drivers and family protection. It has full color night vision for all three camera along with 24/7 parking protection.

The kit comes with two sets of mounts for the front and rear units. They use 3m mounting tape. It also comes with various static sheets to adhere to the glass along with a trim tool and various 3m wire clips. Installation is very straightforward.

The kit also comes with a 12v USB C cable if you don’t want to hardwire it. But if you want to hardwire it they include a hardwire kit with three different sizes of 12v (15 amp) fuse taps. There rear camera connects to the camera/touchscreen unit with the included USB C to UBS C cable which is plenty long for even 3 row SUVs. The hardwire kit has a voltmeter that is adjustable for voltage so you don’t run down your 12v battery while in parking mode.

Since our G2 R1S already has dash camera installed I chose to install the F17 Elite in our 2026 GMC Sierra EV AT4. If you have a G1 Rivian the included 12v fuse taps will work just fine. The G2 Rivians don’t have an accessible fuse panel so I suggest purchasing and OBD2 to USB C power cable for the install on a G2. You can get a good one for about $15 on Amazon. I let RedTiger know that the G2 Rivians don't have an accessible fuse box.

On our Sierra Install I determined that I preferred the camera/touchscreen unit to be installed on the dash. This required an upside down install which works great. The video automatically figures this out and reverses itself on the built in screen. Unfortunately the on screen display overlays do not reverse. It’s not a big deal as you just read them upside down and the OSD is only visible for a few seconds after using the touchscreen. RedTiger may include an option in a future firmware update to reverse the OSD.

The install on our Sierra was easy and I suspect the G1 Rivian would be as well. Once thing I forgot about fuse taps is that you have to install the fuse removed the from fuse panel into the fuse tap. Fuse taps have two fuses. One for the camera, and the other for the circuit that was tapped.

The kit includes a high speed 128gb Micro USB card. It can take up to a 512mb card. The included card is plenty fast for the camera. All three camera are highly configurable using either the touchscreen or the app. To use the app you have to connect directly to the camera’s wifi which can be set to 2.4ghz or 5.6ghz WIFI 6. Once connected via WIFI controlling the camera and viewing/downloading video is very fast and stable. I do wish it had the ability to connect to my Sierra’s hotspot for remote monitoring like some other WIFI dash cameras allow. Maybe RedTiger will add this in a future firmware update.

Both day and night video through the front camera is exceptional. As you can see in my videos you can read a stationary license plate even at night. The interior camera quality is also exceptional. I was surprised that the rear camera also has color night vision. The quality of the rear camera is also very good.

The parking monitor feature can be enabled to be either continuous loop or G-shock triggered. There is a button on the camera/display to lock the video so it doesn’t get overwritten. The camera also accept voice commands. You can say lock video and it will lock a 30 second clip. All of the settings can be changed through the touchscreen or through the app.

I only have one minor complaint about the camera. It does not allow a connection to my trucks hotspot. The WIFI is direct connect only. The direct connect WIFI is super fast but I would like the ability to connect it to the trucks's hotspot and for the app to allow remote monitoring of the cameras. Our dog always travels with us and we would like to be able to check in on her. My Garmin Mini 2 can do this even though it's not even in the same league as the F17 Elite. Hoping RedTiger can upgrade the WIFI in a future firmware.

Accessing your video or photos is easy. The camera slides off its mount easily and can connect to a laptop as a "mass storage device". Or you can pop out the SD card and install it in our laptop. Or you can connect to the camera via a direct wifi connection and use the phone app to view the videos/photos.

Video quality is the most important aspect of a dash camera and that's the selling feature of the F17 Elite. My daytime and nighttime videos were exceptional. You can read a license plate from the front camera day or night.
