Riding into the sunrise...

Rivian R1T R1S South Coast Ridge Road - Los Padres National Forest - California Central Coast 1760135239250-e3

This was just after leaving camp (https://maps.app.goo.gl/Jn5LPM2E6ep3xqFv9)

Configuration for this trip was leaving the hitch mounted tire rack at home and store the spare flat in the back, strapped down, of course. Then lift it out for the night. Cook on the tail gate, then stow kitchen in the sub trunk and roll out the bed on top. Fridge travels in the back seat, and sits on passenger seat at night.

We went up Will Creek Road / Los Burros Road and camped on the ridge, and then North on South Coast Ridge Road (the track is from the campsite). As of today, that route is open. If you read this in the future, double check with the Ranger Station (web site). 15 miles/2h with some stops.

Rivian Navigation (Google Maps based now) is constantly proposing alternative roads in and out. These do not work. Some don't exist. Some are gated off. Some are gated off and if you proceed anyway you enter Fort Hunter Ligget. Do not attempt.

Driving through FHL on Nacimiento-Ferguson Road (and also stopping at the mission) is ok, though, and the quickest way to get here from the North while Highway 1 remains closed north of here. South Coast Ridge is a dead end south of Los Burros Road
