I called Discount Tire yesterday to see if they could get them. I was put on hold while they called Toyo. Came back on and told me Toyo said that tire doesn’t exist. I told him I was looking at Toyo’s website, which said differently and included a product code. He didn’t say anything else. Just left it at that…

Mine are getting installed right now.
These are the ones I have my eyes on...Please post a photo of them installed. I'm also curious about the recommended PSI for the tires.

So I just called my favorite local tire shop in Azusa CA called Tucker Tires. After some digging, he was able to order the Toyo Open Country III EV's #357200, SL version like posted above. He quoted me $339.99 each tire + taxes and disposal fees. Also, it would be $16XX (can't remember exact number), out the door mounted and balanced. Although I'd trust them with all my ICE vehicles, I would probably take my unmounted wheels to them, only because I don't know if they have Rivian pucks. Also, they do no use a lift, they are an old school shop that uses four separate rolling jacks at the same time. And lastly, they did not have Road Force balancer last time I went there, so I personally would get them unmounted and then drive them to my buddies offroad shop in upland that has the road force balancer. He will mount them for me for some pizza and beers for his guys.

Ask for Jerry... I do not know him personally, but he was the one that helped me on the phone.

You could run at max of 51 PSI or follow Rivians recommended pressure of 48 PSI, I would aim for 50 +/- 1-2 PSI ( if in hot weather just try and keep them below 55 hot temp…48 PSI recommended pressure is cold (not hot)…if you are talking about LT tires (which this particular version -116H- is not), those should be run ~55 to 60 PSI depending on load.

I was eyeing these also vs. the E rated version. I noticed though they have less tread depth than the E rated tire.

From toyo's site:

Rivian R1T R1S $370 - Open Country A/T III EV | 275/65R20 116H tires now available toyo

That's about an 18% difference in tread depth.. Also to note many of this tires competitors (Yokohama, Nokian, Falken etc) have 18/32 depth.

Makes me wonder how they warranty the SL tire for 65k miles, and the E-rated for less? Perhaps the rubber compound is harder, which is something I would not want in snow, but likely helps with efficiency..

The lower tread depth is what makes them more efficient (light weight) which will improve both range and handling. As always, the SL will not be a tire for towing or heavy off-roading, will be more of a jack of all trades, likely good for the vast majority of folks here…this also looks like it will be best for light snow (no ice), so shouldn’t expect it to perform like a true winter tire. At 600 UTQG, this could be expected to get ~30k miles, the LT version would likely get ~40k miles. If you have a particularly low electrical rate, then the LT might make sense (depending use). But if range is a concern then best to steer clear of the LT version.

I'd be interested in someone confirming the weight if they get a chance. I'm a little dubious of the listing Toyo has on their website for the 116.

Go elsewhere. DT isn’t the only game in the tire business. Some locations just plain suck. Their loss.

The shop accidentally installed the LT instead of SL. They got both shipped. I got the SL installed today. Notice big difference on range. My lifetime average for car is 2.15 mi/KW. 30 miles on the LT I was at 1.82.

26 miles on the SL at 2.14 and I ended my drive at the top of the hill by my house vs bottom when I got the tires exchanged again. All driving was on local streets 45/60mph with stop lights. Way too early. To tell how much better the range will be.

The SL is also noticeably smoother and quieter at the same PSI of 48. So far I am happy.
