Offset is based off the center of the wheel. Adding half an inch of width and losing 10mm of offset means that you only moved the wheel out a bit over 3.5 mm.
Actually that's not quite the correct math. There is also a 4mm reduction in backspacing over the OEM from 169mm to 165mm. The tire will stick out 10mm further (and it does) over OEM and the wheel 16mm. It will also have a +10mm positive scrub radius (which the Rivian suspension likes). The fitment is actually better than OEM.

Just installed my custom forged wheels yesterday. MonobloK 6061-T6. Made in the USA. Any color you want.
Mark,

Could you share your source for these wheels? I can't quite make out the brand in the pictures.

Actually, his math is correct. It's a backspace/offset difference of -3.65 to be precise. Your diagram rounds it up to 4mm (169 - 165).

I thought someone mentioned that they were $8000 or $9000 a set (without tires) in another post but now I can't find it.
Those wheels are made by Variant, $1900 MSRP per wheel.

The wheel is moved out 16mm....not 3.65mm.......

Gotcha, I was just looking at backspace. Just reread the previous posts & now see that's not what y'all were talking about.

Wider wheel will always stick out further if backspace is equal (and it's not).
