22s Bright to 22s Blacked Out Wheels in 5 Hours using vinyl decals

Decided to try out black on my wheels. Used the ones by https://www.brainexplodermerch.com/product-page/rivian-r1t-r1s-22-wheel-vinyl-decals

It's a tedious process and a hair dryer is your friend. Recommend taking wheels off. Good time to do a rotation and clean brake calipers at the same time. I just had the SC do a 4 tire rotation so I swapped in the spare during this project.

Before- Mocrocks Beach, WA. An excuse to use the Aberdeen RAN

After- It's not perfect but you'd never notice. For $50 it was worth it to try. And I can always remove later.

That is what I thought judging by the shadowing in the interior. Great taste!

After I switched to my winter 20" darks, I've been considering converting my 22s to "dark". One thing I like about the 20" dark wheels is the subtle almost black/grey and black finish. Do the decals match the existing sheen/color? I'm also concerned about these holding up to pressure washing.

The gloss matches incredibly well. In fact almost too close which makes it difficult to see the difference when installing under lights with the glare.
They also come in a matte finish for more of a two tone look.

I think going matte would give it some depth. In any case, it looks good your Limestone.

I agree and I actually ordered the matte first but changed after ordered. My concern with the matte was getting them on straight enough. Having gone thru the process now I don't think that was a valid concern. They are a bit wider than the bright wheel parts and the wrap overlap folds down with the help of a hairdryer to dry the surface.

Wow that looks bada$$ and your configuration is the exact same as mine except I went Forest Edge...I might have to try this!

Nope. Just removed each wheel so I could wash it, including the backside, and to make it eaiser to install while wheel is laying flat.

The key to a powder coat finish is clear or matte clear coat for added protection.

hydro dipping is actually less money

Iam removing all abs plastic trim and hydro dip in carbon fiber with gloss finish, this will give me the look I wish and no worries with uv discoloration.
